It looks like there's a rallycross course set up at VIR this weekend!

http://www.virnow.com/bosch-octoberfest-2009.html

It looks like the Rallycross course was just an afterthought, but the chance to get some practice is a big enough draw to get me up to Virginia.

Does anyone know any more about this? Anyone else from the club going?

suppose to be part of the festivities. I am riding up with the miatas of the family but taking my OBS to run in the gravel. Suppose to be $5 per fun run.

you should have seen the car, the day b4 the rallycross, at ocs.. we went up caravan style.. me in the wrx.. and my father in the bus.. after the tire blew out.. and we fixed it, we went on to the track, just as we got there, teh bottom fell out massively. We were setting up in real rainy conditions. With only one drive able vehicle in these conditions with us, we drove my car..
you could not see any blue paint after we were done with playing in the mud.. after my doing donuts in the empty areas, and running the course with Micheal C and Chris Suich in his car.. we were all so wet, we just decided to call it a day and head home.. was so funny stopping to put gas in the car, be fore setting out on the ride home.. people asked me, what happened to you? ahahahha. took me two days to clean her out.
I dont mind getting dirty, i used to get the sentra so dirty, the only reason i could see where i was going.. was from the windshield wipers going, when i was at Heavy Equipment training, the field we had.. well it was all clay, and would get worth less in the rain.. and with good tires and fwd and a lsd i used to get in and out with relative ease.. provided i stayed on the gravel access roads.. but the sentra would need a real bath, when i would get back to my rented house.. i would take her around back..hose it off, and pick the rocks out of the struts..yep. I dont mind dirt, now chips in the paint i dont exactly like. maybe time for mud flaps. Just, this is a rare chance for me to play there.. never ran at vir off highway course before.. it sounds like fun.. no real good gravel roads around Raleigh any more.

This was posted on one of the local subaru forums:

http://tiny.cc/rally

If that's it, its not the typical rallycross course!

The whole family is heading up Sunday morning to try this course, ride the karts, and check out the new VW.

Don't forget to check out this page (it gives the entry fees). In order to take part in the rally-cross you must first purchase an admission to the race. $35/day

i bit the bullet and went. great fun.. i figured.. i came all this way.. i am playing one way or another.. and darn it if i did'nt have a great time. watched some drifting.. racing. rallying, did some rallying.. did tourist lap. yeah, someone went off at oak tree.. and mangled the armco..
took 30 minutes to fix it.. and stopped my tourist laps cold. BUT.. it was a quality lap though.,. i got to follow the STI and be in front of a 89 supra.
good fun.. went quick for a tourist lap.. i was near the rear.my best rally time was 31 seconds. Though a jetta tdi beat me with a 30 second time.
Because he was more brave over the big dips than i was.. hey Mike, while your there.. PETITION FOR A RALLYCROSS THERE. I want to hold a thscc at that location. the soil is perfect.. it cant cost too much.. that is what one of the ladies said who worked there, she said talk to one who runs the rally cross section. It can't cost as much as the track time, that is what i was told.
the event overall is fun to be there.. watching everything go is fun..
drifting, spec miata, koni challenge practice... rallycross, autocross.
fun stuff to watch.

It was tiny! I can't believe with all of that room to use the best they could do was wiggly circle you got to traverse 3 times for $5. (Plus the $35 entry fee.)

Still, it was practice, and it was entertaining to watch the Suburban go around the course in slow motion :-)

a rallyX even there would be nice, but sure hope its more than like 20 seconds. im only basing this on the fact that pete ran 30 without even running hard.

either way. it would/should be a fun event if one was held
