It was all Keith Vail's doing... I just followed behind him and made useful suggestions like "let's move that cone to the left 5 feet".

First and foremost I need to thank Michael for letting me flog on his Forester a bit this weekend along with all your help setting up and keeping things moving smoothly.

I am glad that everyone had such a great time and enjoyed the course. I just came into the weekend wanting a flowing course and it worked out pretty well.

I also need to thank Ray, Pete and of course Ash and Chris for all their help this weekend. Ray, Pete and Ash helped tremendously with the tweaking of the course on Saturday to get it just right.

That jump in the morning was not intended to be quite that large. I figured some people would be getting air but not the amount of air I was seeing.

preliminary results are,, the toyota took 5th with me in it and dad co driving.. despite all those penalties.. maybe one day i will get a nice car, and win something.. oh well. the jump was nuts.. i mostly backed off, and just made it a hump. and not launch.. the landings hurt! Also, once when i did jump big.. it bit me cause i hit the very next cone, due to the fact that my brains were scrambled, and the car was not straight. Anyway, that was insane!
if the toyota was going fast, i can only imagine what the other faster cars were doing... what a monster,, lotsa fun. lotsa fun. It was worth it getting dirty yesterday, my wrx needs a bath before i leave for California.. but that is all part of the fun.. I may be back b4 the meeting.. It will be close though..Going out to see my cousins and SF again! I was born in San Jose California. Not many club members may know that.. Monterey bay aquarium is huge, if you ever get the chance.. watch the kelp sway in the current, then look away at a wall, or stationary object quickly.. your eyes and brain will really get very confused. Till next time.. shiny side up everyone!
hopefully we will have our overheating problem fixed in time for the next event@! maybe i will win something and not hit so many stupid cones!

This is the best jump! My daughter asked me to print it out so she could show her friends at school.

wow!

nice pic chris.

yeah, that jump was nice. lots of folks were nose diving. but thankfully no one was damaged too badly.

ahh, i totally left my fenderliner piece for the airdam. its not an entire fender liner, but just a part of it. i even said to myself i need to grab it but never did.

on the high note of this event. dont forget to go ahead and sign up, for the next event at the same venue.. maybe with a somewhat similar course layout. Which I thought was just plain crazy, i liked it alot.. fast and open with
plenty of places to let loose.. lotsa fun.

Damn it! Just heard back from Jake's Transmissions. After this past race my Forester's transmission needs a $2,500 rebuild :-( All that and I didn't even get a trophy :-)

Sorry to hear about that. What happened during the event to break the tranny?

Consider a used transmission from some place like LKQ. Probably a lot cheaper!

The thing that was different this time was my co-driver. :-) Its an automatic, and he was using the R,D,1,2,3 shifter to hold it in 1st until the redline, and then move it to 2nd. (Which I also did on the last two runs.) The car has 120K miles on it, so it could have just been wear as well.

Thanks for the used transmission idea-- strange the shop didn't mention it :-)

If I go that route I'd need to find a shop to install the used transmission.
