Well, I know we are doing this a little more than the 1 week ahead of the event, but with the holiday weekend we thought it would give people a little extra time to plan something else.

11-days to be exact.

Dang.

I had at least 2 guys from the 4x4 club that were planning to attend, but had not pre-registered (I told them they had until 28-Aug to register). I know one other person that was planning to register, and I was going to put the message out on a NC-wide 4x4 board tonite that I'm sure would have generated some attendees.

I have to miss the October event - it conflicts with the demo derby at the State Fair.

See you guys in November!

Can I recommend that:
1) We don't schedule events on holiday weekends next year.
2) We don't schedule the October event the same weekend as the State Fair demo derby. (Just kidding about #2 - probably only 2 other regular RallyX-ers have this conflict)

Yeah, scheduling everything in January is tough. We try to work around the autox and track schedules, as well as holidays, big sporting events and anything else we can think of. In the end, it's always a compromise.

Hey - why not leave 5-Sept as a Test-n-Tune day at the BMW farm, like we did back in January? That was a lot of fun (other than our engine blowing up). You get a lot more runs, and you don't need people to staff the course, so you can run it with fewer people.

Plus it is great practice and great fun. :)

I would be there.

Excellent idea! I'd be there as well. It would be great to be able to practice.

from what ive gathered from the past, insurance and liability would be a problem.

I guess if Bret invited us out there, kinda like how kevin does, then it may work.

I'd be glad to have a test n tune day, but I'd prefer to have event insurance in place- there's just too much liability as a property owner to do something like this without it.

AFAIK, it's up to the club, and/or the RallyX VP's.

Basically, I don't think they'll go for it unless it's going to at least break even financially. So, you'll have to get more people to commit to participating before they'll even consider it.

What are the costs then, and how many people does it take for a Test -n- Tune to break even?

I cannot say for sure, since I'm not privy to that info- but I've heard it takes about 25-30 or so to make it break even.

Why not PM or email one of the club ocifers or VP's?

From the club's (liability and profitability) perspective, there's very little difference between a points event and a TnT, and the 25 minimum that's been quoted in other threads is already a low number.

Are you saying insurance is a fixed expense? That doesn't make sense since liability is a multiple of the number of entrants.
