So I was assuming that since the conditions of the "go/no go" were met, it was a "go" - but some people are apparently taking the email message that was also posted above as a cancellation, including Pete Baio over on nasioc. Could somebody please let us know ASAP what is happening?

If it's a matter of people not having time to deal with behind-the-scenes things, let me know what needs to be done and I'll do it. I'm sure you'll have a few other volunteers if you need them, too.

Thanks. :D

July 11th Rallycross has been cancelled.

While we are glad to see enthusiasm amongst fellow Rallcrossers, as VP’s this is a hard decision to make.

Unfortunately this event did not have enough preregistered participants to justify the expense of holding the event when we checked the entry list with little more than a week to go until the event. We don't want to cancel events, and we are glad to see so many people expressing interest, but not at the last minute. Unfortunately it does take time, people and money to make an event happen. If it is looking like the club will be losing money to hold an event, or if there will not be enough people participating to safely work the course, we put the word out to try to drum up more participation so that the event does not get cancelled. At some point though, we do have to make the call that there is not enough interest to justify the expense, and with a week to go we decided that there was just not enough people preregistered to hold this event safely and without losing money.

In the past we have not had a specific number announced as a "goal" for participation, and that policy is being addressed so that participants won't be left hanging until the last minute. The logistics however, dictate that we commit to holding an event before the week of the event, in order to arrange for insurance and bus transport, and conveniences such as catering and port-a-john delivery. In recent months we have definitely been pushing things to the wire so that events will still happen, but this is setting a precedent that really cannot continue. Cancelling an event is disappointing to us and the people who have already signed up, but we cannot run an event if we don't have enough people to safely work the course, and we can't wait until the last second to make the decision.

With the participation and interest that we do have in the Rallycross program, we are asking you to use the preregistration process so that we can determine interest in a specific event and we need more people to volunteer to chair the events. The last thing we want to do is cancel events, but it seems like more often we are having to resort to begging people to participate in the process of making events happen. We would like to see more people volunteer to chair events and preregister for them, before we get to the point that we are discussing the potential cancellation of an event.

We welcome your thoughts and suggestions. We have three weeks until the August 1st event and we only have 8 preregistrants, We are still without event chairs for any of the other three remaining events this season.

Please use this link now to preregister for the August 1st event if you plan to participate in it.

Can we count on you to make sure these events will happen?

Well, we currently have more people signed up than participated in the "national championship" in Nebraska the first year, but whatever.

Maybe things have changed since I was a rallyx VP, but I didn't think you had to commit to everything a whole week ahead. I even ordered the PJ the day of the event one time, because "somebody" forgot to.

And I'm sure we could get the bus there somehow - if it was the deciding factor and absolutely nobody else could possibly do it, I'd go get it, then keep it at my house afterward and deliver it to Sanford for the autox.

As for catering, uh... what? :brow:

And if I actually got any of the money for site rental, I'd waive that portion of the fee if it was the deciding factor between the club losing money (OMG!!!11!!) and cancelling the event, or the rallyxers getting their thrills.

I don't get it. But I guess I get a lot more time to relax this week. So it's not all bad. :D

I am the only one who is confused here? There are 28 people registered only 7 less than participated at the last event. And Kevin's track is an easy track to work. with most of the track being permanent there are fewer workers needed. Last time there were at least 3 workers at each station and we all spent most of the time enjoying watching the other cars, not putting up cones.

I know it's an unpopular decision and I apologize for any confusion regarding Chris' post on the 4th. We had discussed the event and decided then not to go forward with the event. With the holiday weekend and work I had not checked the forums until today.

When Chris made his post on the 4th, we felt we did not have enough participation to go forward with the event. Yes, we have run events with less people in the past, but there have always been issues as a result, whether it be with the number of workers on the course or revenue for the club. This was not an event on the original schedule, it was placed on the table with the understanding that if we didn't get enough entrants that it wouldn't happen. Unfortunately we did not put a date down for that decision to be made at the get go. With a week to go it seemed appropriate to make the call.

We look forward to seeing you at the August event out at OCS.

I'm still confused. It seems like all criteria were met but at least I'll be there on saturday anyway. I'll get to drive more and all it will cost me is some beer for Kevin. And when it's not a THSCC event the jump is brought into play. I need more air time!!!

IMO i think it would have helped if the link wasnt so "secret" i believe a few people couldnt register because they couldnt find the link.

Oh well.

The jump would've been in play anyway. :D It's the Subaru Super Special Stage portion that would've had cars parked on it, but is now "in play." Yeehaw.

I know I've recommended this before, and was ignored at the time, but I'll say it again... if you reschedule the August 1 event to a date that doesn't conflict with Rally WV or another "nearby" stage rally, you'll probably get higher attendance. I know of several people who definitely won't be there due to that, including myself.

I'll be missing Aug. 1st also.

gone until the following Saturday.

I really dont wanna miss it. but i figured 7-8 days of fun is tons better than 1 day of fun.

I'd like to assume I can get a co-drive to try out RallyX to see if I like it, and so am going to sign up, but the link is busted :-(

I tried going through the online preregistration link and that said there weren't any events planned, so now I'm really confused.

This link works for me. I'm not sure why it's not bringing up the preregistration page for you. I went to THSCC's main page and clicked on Rally>Rallycross Info & Events>Preregister and it also brought up the page. Perhaps there is an issue with cookies on your browser?
