Rally Update- X Games 14 here we come!!!

For the 2008 rally season I was able to move from the Production GT class of competition to the overall fastest class of competition called the 'Open' class. With growing support from Hankook Tire I had some of the budget to make it happen but was still a bit lost on how to turn that into a team. Around early November in 07 a friend called and made my day. My friend Dave Anton who owns a Subaru specialist company called RalliSpec (www.rallispec.com) in New Jersey was already planning to build a new open class car and suggested I come and bring my Hankook support and drive his car with RalliSpec support behind it. Dave was able to fill in the missing pieces to allow Worm and I to move to the top level of rally competition in the US. I am truly grateful for the opportunity.

More rally stuff... I'm going to the X Games in LA in a week or so. Since the ESPN X Games have had rally racing as a sport the popularity of our sport has grown tremendously.

X Games Rally Car Racing will air Aug 3rd on ESPN and on ABC Live television. I'll be in the first half hour shown and then again in the hour following. I hope you can tune in to watch! In addition it looks like there will be a 30 second piece on SportsCenter on Aug 6th around 11pm at night EST that will highlight me and how I'm a rally driver, it's part of a sponsorship deal with a shoe company that's still coming together. My car will look different than in the videos above, it's still coming together. If it turns out anything like what we have planned you won't be able to miss it... I promise.

I saw pictures at work today of Matthew airborne over the jump (Matthew's sister is dating one of my coworkers). Those guys are NUTS!!!

On the replay you could see he just went a little wide and started pushing it. He didn't really shortcut the route or do anything wrong... but whatever, as long as he advances!

I can't believe McShea went out! Word from the event this week is how he was Mr. Super-tidy. Of course they couldn't practice the turns in and out of the arena until today, and then once the race starts anything can happen!

I just had to watch the end of it on the DVR. MJ gave a hell of a run to come back from 2 seconds behind to only lose by .5 seconds!! Nicely done!
