Having not done rallyx before, how are the tech rules different from autox?

What are the criteria for passable tires?

What are the rules regarding windows?

How about the functionality of doors/door handles?

Last but not least...

Do I need bumpers?

I know that you don't need bumpers.
I think windows and doors are optional.
Tires are mandatory.

Unless something has specifically changed, it's really a "run what ya brung" ruleset. Once upon a time, we removed the hood and trunklid from a Corolla rallycross car. Aside from people saying "hey you can't do that!", the rules have never changed from the obvious drive layout, tire, and engine displacement requirements.

The requirement for convertibles to have a rollbar is currently the only requirement above and beyond what you will find for autocross.

With that said, I bet that if you showed up in a car without doors, we would probably start requiring some extra safety equipment.

Hmmm, car without doors ... has some possibilities...

It has doors, just not handles. You have to move the little rod back/forth to operate the latches.

The tires hold air just fine. They look a bit ragged; I didn't know if I was going to get denied.

So what's the advice with the bumpers? I want to protect the radiator, but the bumpers are pretty much falling off already and they're dead weight.

We can't answer your Q about tires without seeing them, but I can tell you that tires are the #1 most important factor in going fast. If you've got baldies, you won't be able to accelerate or turn very well, and you probably won't have much fun.

Let me introduce you to the de facto "spec tire" for THSCC rallyX, if you're interested...

I can't see this being a problem (though I'm not an official voice for RallyX), so long as you can get out reasonable quickly. If you get in real trouble (NOT a common occurance), you'll likely be going out an open window anyway.

Would YOU feel safe sliding sideways into a rut at 20MPH on those tires? If not, you might want to consider Carl's link.

Unfortunately it came with new shoes, they are pretty good all-seasons, but definitely aren't that good. We'll see how she holds up, maybe I'll get a spare set of wheels tires and mount up a set of these later this year.

What are they? Size? I'm considering selling one set of 17in wheels and getting something high-profile to smooth out the daily commute and trip to the events.

Stock wheels are 16x6 5x114 I think I'd be sticking with a 16 for the sake of cheaper tires. Probably just try to find set of cheap stock wheels, I really don't want to spend much money on this car or RX, I mean isn't that the spirit of the sport?

I think you misunderstood - I was suggesting I might be interested in a set of cheap 16in tires for DD wheels, depending on what they were.

Indeed I did misunderstand you, sometimes I'm a little slow. :) The tires are Kumho ASTs in size 205/50/16 and they are brand spankin new, well they probably have 500 miles on them at this point.
