Looks like the event name won't match the conditions, but that's a good thing. Yay 60 & sunny! :D

Just finished the new courses. Consider them a warm-up for Sandblast Rally. There are a few technical parts, some parts that are probably going to rut horribly, and some wide open parts. And at least one optional jump - I may knock one of them down once I've driven it at speed. It's kinda iffy.

There will be subs, snacks and drinks as usual.

Oh, yeah - there are some very small, newly-planted trees at the edge of the field where the well and the purple martin house is. DO NOT DRIVE IN THIS AREA. It is well-marked with cones, so you have no excuse. And as always, if you didn't put the cones there (any of the cones, anywhere on the site), do not move them, because there's a very good reason for them to be there. Like to keep people off of newly-planted trees. :P

Also...

Not sure if somebody has already volunteered for this, but the bus needs to be here Saturday morning. Anyone want to volunteer, or explain what the plan is? Need it here by 8am, but would prefer closer to 7am so we don't have to rush setup.

The bus is at Triangle Auto and Truck on Hwy 55 in Apex/Morrisville and ready for pickup.

I haven't heard any plans to get it to Four Oaks -- is there anyone who could do that on Friday?

It can be picked up any time during business hours. After hours is fine but someone needs call them at 467-1376 and ask for Travis -- he will move it outside the gates.

I can drive the bus to Four Oaks after work today.

Someone please PM me info on key location and door combinations. Once I have that, I will call Triangle Truck and make sure that they leave the bus outside if I don't arrive before closing.

Thanks,
Charlie

Lots of big water splashes out there this afternoon. Should still be there in the morning. Make sure you bring some patience with you.

See you tomorrow...

 I'm still grinning like an idiot after today's rallycross! I had a blast, even though I racked up my first rally cross cone today.

The weather was fantastic, short sleeves on February 2nd, who would believe it? 8) And, it was nice to not be pelted by dust all day. I did almost get covered by a muddy rooster tail while videotaping, but fortunately I did not.

Speaking of videotape, I will be going through the footage tonight after dinner and probably for the next few days. I will post a thread with any highlight pics and / or vids that stand out and then I will be putting together at least one highlight video. I always welcome extra photos and video to include on the DVD, so if any of you have something you would like for me to include I will be sure to give you credit on the DVD! It doesn't have to be incredible stuff, but having different camera angles really makes for a great presentation! Let me know and I can arrange to pick up the video or you can mail your footage to me on a CD/DVD. (PM me for my address.)

Thanks to Kevin and Cosby for starting off the rallycross season with a great event! I really enjoyed the course design, especially the yump!

Great event! Especially loved the afternoon course (tho it didn't love me...) - almost scary fast! Nice weather, good turnout (44 I think?), and great jobs by the event chairs and new Veeps!

I have 422 photos to sort through. Got some that I'm really happy with. :D

Thanks for coming, everybody. It's fun watching everybody have so much fun with something that I created. I think that you'll be seeing that afternoon course again - that was definitely fun.

I'm not too good with the video camera yet, but I did get some decent stuff in the afternoon, of the jump and the keyhole. I'll figure out how to get it to Ash.

See you next time.

I just realized that I didn't get a dash plaque. Are there any left somewhere on the bus, or elsewhere? I'd like to have one, since those are my nuts pictured on there.

:D

Thanks to Kevin and Cosby for putting together two great courses. The afternoon course was especially entertaining.

If you don't find a dash plaque, you can have one of ours. After the last statement, I may be a bit uncomfortable with it on the refrigerator anyway.

Why didn't you run Kevin?

I'd have to say that even though I didn't finish well in the standings, yesterday was near the most fun I've had a rallycross! That afternoon course was stupid fast! Even the keyhole approach didn't suck because you know that once you made out it was flying time!

I was also good to see all the new faces. That would actually be the reason there weren't enough dash plaques. I didn't count on us having that many people, but it's a good problem to have.

Several have heard me comment that it's shame that the courses at Four Oaks are faster than OCS, even with half the real estate. I may step up and co-chair the event day (not the school) just to make an actual fast course at OCS.
