Welcome to THSCC RallyX 2008. We hope to make this year as fun and exciting as last year. Key to a successful program is volunteers to chair events. This is your opportunity to make an event yours and help the program be successful. Please consider chairing an event. This year we plan to run 7 points events. You will need to run in 4 points events to be in the points race and only 6 events will count toward the totals.

Chairing a rallycross is easier than chairing an autocross, so if you're "not quite sure", rallycross may be the place to start. With the exception of the school, previous experience is not necessary, so feel free to sign up with another inexperienced person and make a team. One of the VPs will be available to make sure all the bases are covered.

Basic duties include creating an event theme; designing an event graphic; designing a course to fit the site; running around on event day making sure all is running well (with the help of VP's and other experienced RallyX'ers)

Note that the event after the school in March does not have to be chaired by the same person who does the school, though that's typically how it's been done. About all that is needed for the Sunday event is to set up the course after the school is over.

Feel free to respond to this post (but please stay on topic) or send one of the VP's an email or PM.

Here are the dates:

Feb 2 (Sat) - Points Rallycross # 1 (Four Oaks)
Chairs:
Cosby Wood
Kevin Allen

Mar 29 (Sat) - Rallycross School (Orange County Speedway)
Mar 30 (Sun) - Points Rallycross # 2 (Orange County Speedway)
Chairs:
Ash Nelson
Brian Herring
Extra Helper: Chuck Nelson

[Date Change!!!]
May 18 (Sun) - Points Rallycross # 3 (Four Oaks)
Chairs:
Ash Nelson
Cosby Wood

(Dated changed to avoid conflict with THSCC support of EV Challenge)

Jun 7 (Sat) - Points Rallycross # 4 (Orange County Speedway)
Chairs:

Aug 2 (Sat) - Points Rallycross # 5 (Four Oaks)
Chairs:

[Date Change!!!]
Sep 28 (Sun) - Points Rallycross # 6 (Orange County Speedway)
Chairs: Chuck Nelson

Oct 25 (Sat) - Points Rallycross #7 (TBD)
Chairs:

Nov 15 (Sat) - Non-Points Rallycross (tentative) (TBD)
Chairs:

I'd like to sign up to chair the school/rally X on March 29/30, unless you would like a more experienced rallycrosser to chair that. I would like to chair an event at OCS either way. 8)

Simon will be busy prepping for Sandblast, so Kevin was nice enough to join in the fun and chair the first event with me. Everything should be ready before too long.

Thanks Chuck!
I'm a day late in updating this thread, the AutoXers needed to swap event dates in September. Will you be able to chair the Rallycross on Sept 28?

He did instruct last year. It would be great to have him again, but only if his shoulder has healed enough.

he'd be able to talk and chair and direct. but perhaps not drive as much as he may want. but, later this year, he will be back. in summer, hes healing well. slowly yet well, this summer look for him to be somewhat recovering his abilities.

Hey, Christine and I were wondering if the Aug 2 event could be rescheduled so that we (and I'm sure others in the club) could attend Rally WV without missing one of our rallyxes - especially one at home. The following weekend would work fine for us; how about it?

I received other requests to move the date.
How about moving it to the week-end before to have some shake down before RallyWV?

That weekend's okay, too, as far as I know.

Agreed! Do we have any volunteers yet? If not, it sounds like Ash is throwing her hat in the ring! I wouldn't mind doing the same.
