The weather was awesome, the rally master was cool, and the area was nice too. It was nice to meet ya Vern!

I look forward to our next TSD. :D

Gwennie, you would be so proud of how much I have geeked out in preparation for it. If we make it to the meeting I will share.

So, How'd all the geek prep work for you? I'm looking forward to the next one.

Pretty well, considering.

I made some assumptions about what kind of information might be in the instructions based on our last one - such as secondary road numbers. I found county maps and printed them off for the three conties we were likely to traverse, and that was really kick ass, but then we missed some sign and things went downhill. There was not a single reference to a secondary road number in the whole thing!

I had thought that we would get the same kind of checkpoint information - such as leg length and time, like our first TSD - and so I had brought my stopwatch so we could tell if we were way off on a section, but no. No info at the checkpoints other than departure time and new avg. speed.

We still had a great time, and we weren't DFL, but we had not realized how much Bowie and Lance had spoiled us on our first foray into TSD.

Ryan,we left New Bern on hwy 17. Ended up crossing 70 in tuscarora, then to grifton and over toward vanceboro and back past west craven hs. I believe Kevin may be familiar with that section  . Then we went to the Texas Steakhouse for a late lunch and awards. My wife and I came in third. The rally was intended to be a novice event, just to get people interested. It was basically, follow instructions, don't get lost and try to maintain an average speed. It was nice to meet Ash and Chuck.

Oh yeah! Nice trophies! Pewter mugs for top three drivers and navs and Margue awards (ceramic mugs) for top BMW, Honda, Vette, Mazda,Porshe.
Ryan, I had to buy an S2000 just so I would have a "sports car" to compete in. I think the rally master said he plans on doing the next one in the Greenville area.

Cool!

I wanted to do this one and have a car now that might cut the mustard for your "rally master". I would have done pretty well on that route as I have taken those roads many times.

I'll have to try and make the next one!
