He did finally get his RS fixed, and should be at OCS. After replacing the rear diff, the transmission, the clutch and the flywheel, it turned out to be a front axle.

Sweet deal on the Probe, though.

Tell me about it the car spent a month at my house while we did the work. He told me ahead of time he was going to have the axles replaced before we did the diff and transmission. He then brings the car to my house and we do the aforementioned swap basically the entire drivetrain and the problem is still there. Turned out to be the left front axle. Man I wish we had just started with the axles. Oh well you live and learn, Brian is easy to work with and helped out through the entire process.

Is Brian going to be selling the spare (good?) tranny and diff?

I don't think so. I believe he was keeping both as spares since he feels that he is hard on equipment.

I think I need some background here... What was the problem to begin with?

OK, I give, what's the problem with a door frame? The door hinges have to attach to something. Unless there are no doors..... Did you buy a washed up FSAE car too?

The most ironic part of the whole swap, swap, swap thing was that MONTHS ago, I told him I had no clue what was wrong & he should talk to Ryan Davis at Southern States. He said something about not wanting to pay somebody to fix it & he was basically just going to start replacing parts and see if it would go away. (not exactly what he said, but that's how I heard it  ) After all that time, money and effort with no fix, he called me and asked if he could borrow one of the front axles and the driveshaft from my 2.5RS. This was a week and a half before the championship rallyx in VA. (you can probably guess what my answer was) I told him I would check around and see if I could find him an axle that somebody had as a spare. After not hearing from him for a few days, I went to pick up my lightweight bumper beams at SStates, and while I was there, I told Ryan about what Brian's car was doing. He said it sounded like a front axle was busted. So... HE GAVE ME ONE that was lying next to his tool box, and said if it worked, they could work out the payment whenever.

Moral of the story: if you have no clue what the problem is, you should probably get an expert involved asap, instead of throwing money and time at the problem hoping it will go away.

Sorry Art, I guess I should specify...
you see the M3 coupe is uber pimp and faster than the sedan because it doesn't have window frames on the doors. The sedan's have this...thus making them super slow and un cool.
