:D I have been sitting on my a$$, what else? Don't worry, awesome videos are in the works right now. Well, not right now, 'cause I'm at work. But soon.

Thanks for letting me use your footage Carl! Some of my video footage is unuseable due to my main camera suffering a dirt hemmorage during the early afternoon. It really messed something up and the tape shows it. No worries though, I still have a decent amount of stuff I can use, but more never hurts! 8) I'm sending a PM right now...

I'll post links as soon as I have something up!

More jump pictures!!! Yeeeee-ha!!

I've got something called a "rain cape" that I used at the last OCS event that covers the camera to protect it from the elements. It worked well with the dust at OCS, but since the onboard mic was under the cape the car sounds were pretty muffled and there were audible "crinkling" sounds as the cape moved. Adding an external mic would solve that, I'd think.

Last weekend I didn't use it, I just turned my back and tucked the cam under my shirt when the dust cloud was coming. It still looks pretty clean, though it did get dusted some.

I've actually got 2 of those rain capes, but 1 is broken. :( But maybe your handy husband can get the 1 working again, in which case it's yours to keep! :D

:D We were actually discussing how to grassroots one of those out of a ziploc freezer bag! LOL I'm going to have to do something though, that dust was incredible! Maybe we can rent a water truck for the afternoon to wet down the course in between heats next time

Thanks for your generous offer Carl, I may take you up on that if it will fit my camera! 8)

This is out of left field but.....

I am obsessed with that show in TLC "The Deadliest Catch". Yeah my wife REALLY loves it too  not!

Well they had a behind the scenes look at how they film it. Obviously being out on the Bering Sea does not lend itself to long camera life. One of the camera guys rigged up a box to keep the elements out of the camera. It was kinda ghetto but it was a simple plastic case that allowed it to still be portable yet keep the elements out.

If you see it on TV, check it out. Beware, it is addicting to watch.

Wasn't it painful to watch that cameraman step back into the hole on the deck and go down and break three ribs?

Sorry for the hi-jack.

Actually, my first setup, used when the cam was in Matthew's rally car, was just a freezer bag with a hole poked in it for the lens to peek through. Then I just taped the bag tightly around the lens barrel so only the very end was exposed. I had one of those "daylight" filters screwed to the end, so the lens was protected too. It actually worked pretty well. I didn't have to use the viewfinder very much, but you'd want to poke another hole for the eyepiece to poke through too. Really, that might actually be a better solution than this rain cape anyway, as it's pretty thick material and the jig to hold the cam in place relative to the cape makes it a bit awkward.

Anyway, you're welcome to this extra rain cape of mine in any event, maybe you can use it or maybe not. Here's a link to either the model I have or something like it, I sure don't think I paid that much...

Hmmm...don't know why some pictures are bigger than others. Must be a camera thing. :?:

So did you get any of me? Let me know if I was going too fast for the camera to catch anything, and I'll drive slower next time -- like those guys up above.

Can someone make sure our club insurance company never sees these pictures? :) Methinks maybe they don't fully realize the implications of "just like autocross but on dirt" -- which I believe is what we told them :)

I was actually thinking that this time, when I upload videos to Google, that I won't use THSCC as one of the keywords. It will still appear in the video itself, but not as a search keyword. I don't want to start trouble for the club! 8)

I have pics of the mirage, but I don't think I have any of the jump pictures. Several good runs were on the section of tape that got scrambled by dirt. I will review what I have when I get home tonight just to make sure.
