X-files music...

Nice job! Sounded like a good time.

What was that guy giving you the "look" for? Are THSCC rallyx VP's supposed to be dicks or something?

Awesome man! Really wish I could have gone. This now makes two years in a row. Watch next year I'll be able to go and they won't have it.

THSCC reportedly has a reputation with SCCA going way back, and us rolling up in our fancy bus and kicking their asses last year didn't help any, I'm sure. The DC region guys are really laid back and friendly, but it seems like the SCCA guys who "aren't from around here" have a nasty opinion of us. And me telling everyone during introductions at the drivers' meeting that they should come run with THSCC in NC didn't go down extremely well, either.

I keep thinking of all the stuff that was going on - including Dave Pomfret pulling the recently-collapsed barn shelter over to the side so we could have the biggest bonfire EVAR - and our events are pretty weak by comparison. The competition's pretty good, the courses are usually fun, but they're not even close to this one on the seat time, fun factor of the courses or the social thing. Maybe we could have a two day event at OCS at some point? The camping & bonfires are part of what makes this stuff so much fun. There are several people from this event that were talking about coming to some of ours, and that would be our closest site for them, and the most similar to the surface at OA. Anyone agree?

And no, there will probably not be one next year for a couple of reasons. 1) the site is for sale, and 2) the SCCA officials have deemed it unsafe for future rallyxes without "major changes" - they said it's more suited for a Rally Sprint or whatever, which requires you have a stage rally car.

Chris looked really smooth from what I saw, and he said he was only 3 seconds slower than Rob Bergstrom on single times today. Damn good, especially considering what he had to work with. Rob was 2nd to me overall by around 10 or 12 seconds, and we were the only two who were faster than 17 minutes. ...
Anything to add, Chris? :D

I have to correct the times... I was .2 minutes slower each run than Rob. I was so used to our club dealing in minutes and seconds I was not thinking clear when I first saw the numbers. Overall I was just under 2 minutes slower than Rob for the 9 runs. I was within .2 minutesoverall of the other 2 competitors that finished. So anyway, I was a bit slower than Rob, but I am happy with the way I drove overall and the Beater is much better now with the new/used suspension.
I had a great time there. I love the course. The dust sucks, but it's worth it for an annual trip.

The 2 day and camping thing would not be a problem at all at OCS, as Kim let us do that during the school. The bonfires, well that may be another story entirely. She may let us, she may not. Who knows. Either way, I'm down for that as well.

A bonfire in June-July? Uh...no thanks. It's hot enough already w/o starting a fire.

Besides with the current drought we may end up setting the whole facility ablaze.

It's June. We had a bonfire at OA. Before the fire was started, we were slightly cold. Afterward, warm. The fire was contained. Fun was had. Success!

Anybody want to go up to OA after the November non-pts rallyx at our house? We could make it a 2-day event with a 4 hour transit stage. This is what I plan to do, anyway. :D

btw, the only one "nipping at my heels" was Rob -- the person who wrote that "story" was apparently nowhere near VA last weekend. :?

Maybe if I wear an orange clown wig next time...
