The Washington DC Region rallycrossers are hosting their Rallycross National Challenge event again this year- it'll be on June 16th and 17th at the Oakland Acres site near Orange, VA. It looks like information is posted and registration is open at www.dcrally.com.

According to the schedule, there'll be 6 runs on Saturday and 4 runs on Sunday. For those of you who've never been there, this is a great site, hard-packed and fast, and the course has some really fun turns and elevation changes. Last year our club was pretty well represented there, and we took home a lot of trophies. I expect they'll have a lot more entries this year as the program has matured, and I hope we can send even more Tarheelers up there to show everyone who's got the best drivers. ;-)

As far as I know, they are planning to do their own timing and scoring this year, so we won't be needing the bus and a full crew of timing workers. But, that may change as they figure out what they're getting into... :P

Anyway, just a heads-up about this great event so y'all can start making your plans to attend!

Why does it have to be in June?!?!?!? I have too much stuff already and REALLY wanted to go to this! Dammit!!!!

I'm going to register anyway, just in case I am able to go. Not too likely though. Nevermind, apparently you can't preregister without pre-paying.

I wanted to go back up this year but it is the weekend before the DC Prosolo and I have a wedding the weekend before the rallycross that is in Chicago that I will be at. Mark told me when it was and I was not very happy. I guess I won't be able to go and defend my 2nd place in RPA. :x

Let's get a large group to go up this time, people. It would be great if 1/2 the competitors were from THSCC - and that would be totally feasible, based on attendance at the TN event being 19.

The site is like a mini VIR on dirt. Course designer is a genius, and there are really some places that challenge you and some other places that are just damn fun. If you like rallyxes down here, you'll love Oakland Acres.

Oakland Acres national rallyx challenge - once a year.

I hear that car clubs go to Roebling Rd all the time.

:whoknows:

If I had to choose between a POS on a dirt track and a track-prepared BMW on a road course, I'd probably choose the BMW, though.
