What I find interesting is that Maureen Monroe consistently had the quickest segment times on the trickiest segments at the school, by driving a smooth, round, non-drifting, non-"throwing that bitch in there & hanging on" line. (those guys were at least a few tenths slower) But looking at the rallyx results... what happened? Interesting.

Kevin - I agree with most of your observations, and right now the car isn't balanced right. Thank god now that I got rid of the STi suspension it finally *will* rotate again with stock springs and AGX struts. Now it's just a little too much.

Honestly now with that suspension on the car, anything "over the edge" was oversteer. With the STi stuff on any error resulted in understeer. I hate understeer!

All the early apexes you saw was the car rotating more than I expected it to while approaching the corner and backing off the throttle. And it got out of shape a few times but again I'd much rather have the back end wagging than the front end sliding. I don't think I ever had front end traction issues on Sunday.

That's progress. What I need to find is a setup that will rotate on command in both fast and slow stuff but a little less violently.

I need a test day!

Oh and I concur that the OCS site seems to drive differently than Four Oaks. Not sure yet what it is but it seems to be "looser".

Half of the fun I'm having is the fact that I don't understand all the variables yet!

Kevin - another thing to keep in mind is that these courses were much more technical and transitional than most we have had, and a lot more so than the course at your place. Lots of relatively hard steering inputs were required, and there were few long sweepers which didn't have at elevation and/or surface changes.

I think my car's setup now would be great on long sweepers, but it's a handful in transitions at OCS. I also need to tone down my on/off switch throttle style that I developed with the STi suspension. I was sidestepping the throttle to get any rotation out of it then.

Did I mention that I hate the STi suspension? :)

Mike want me to tear up that check for the wheels and trade you the STi bits for them? :D

I was fairly stunned at how much looser the car felt at the OCS site. Good thing I didn't put on a rear sway bar like I was considering. Man, being out of practice really made the first few runs ugly!

You should've tried out the gravel part of bacon rd. if you thought the OCS site was loose. I'd love to block that road off and just go from end to end all afternoon. :D

Which brings up a good point - if the car or surface is really loose, you don't do violent things with the steering wheel, throttle or brake. On bacon rd, I was making VERY small steering inputs, modulating the throttle very gently through the sweepers, and being very careful and precise with the brakes. If I had done something violent with any of those inputs, I would've been somewhere that was not fun.

Yes, I need a rally car. :P
