Then the question I have is will there be any advantage to volunteering for this if we already have a full SCCA membership?

At least one advantage I can think of is that you will get to feel like you helped THSCC do a good job of handling timing & scoring (& announcing) for a national event. After all, that's why Rob asked us--instead of his own or some other SCCA region club.

I have no complaints if we don't get any advantage it was more just a question out of curiosity. I would still be happy to help out with timing.

Consequently, we would need to provide a staff of timing workers, so if you have done rallycross timing with us before and are considering going up for this event, please PM or email me and we'll get you in the loop.

I haven't seen anything that I recognize as a 'loop' yet. Any new information?

You're in the loop. It's just so large that you don't realize it's a loop.
:bs:

There is nothing new so far except the "official announcement", which really contains nothing new except for the schedule, which Anders posted already.

I guess I can say that it looks like we're gonna have to make some fairly serious mods to the scoring software to accommodate this event, and I'm hoping to have it ready for testing at the July 1st event. But that's something I'll be doing, and nothing that any of y'all can help me with.

I have a short stack of SCCA Temporary/Trial Membership forms here for those of you going to the Rallycross National Challenge event. I'll bring them to the club meeting next week, or you can make arrangements to get one from me directly (I work at Glaxo in RTP)- PM or email me to work something out. They are good for 90 days and will allow you to compete in the event.

You'll need to mail or fax an entry form (available online at http://www.scca.com/_Filelibrary/File/2 ... RYFORM.pdf) if you're not already a full SCCA member. "Real" members can sign up online. It doesn't look like we'll be able to score free entries for this one- sorry!

Link to the online reg, and some small amount of info about the site and event, can be found at http://www.scca.com/Event/Event.asp?Ref=3567

Thanks!

Alright. I will be needing one as I dont want to redeem my SOA SCCA 'free' membership yet.

See you at the meeting hopefully. :) Let us know how we can help out more directly, or what needs to be done beforehand to prepare for the event.

Well, as luck would have it, I'm not going to be able to attend this year's national event. But it's for a good reason, I'm moving!! We don't have the exact date yet, but it's sometime within the next month and a half, and if I go off for 3 days during this, whether it's before the move, during the move, or directly after the move, I will never hear the end of it and the house could potentially get set up the way that I don't want it. :x So, I have to resign my position in T&S and luckily I haven't sent out my registration yet so I don't need to pull that. Now I still will be attending the rallyx at the BMW farm, that will be easy to pull off. :D

So our timing team is looking pretty thin now- it's down to me, Emmie, Brian Herring, and Keith Vail, unless Kevin Allen and/or Christine are in. Can y'all please confirm with me your status for helping at this event?

Thanks,

Hey Carl,
I sent an email to you.

Thanks for the info at the meeting tonight. Sounds like a fun weekend.

Count me in to help out that weekend.

Chris

Excellent! Brian and Keith (and whoever else may be going), I have those SCCA temporary membership forms that you'll need.

We'll all need to register for the event via snail mail, so we're not going to be able to wait until the day before to sign up like we're used to doing. I'll have to remember to ask Rob if they're accepting walk-ups, or it everyone has to be preregistered/prepaid.

Thanks!

I am pretty sure Kevin and Christine are going as well. Cosby MAY not be going, but I am working on him.

I am going to fax my entry form to SCCA today/tomorrow.

Thanks for keeping us posted, Carl! :)

Acutally, at this point, I am about to say that I am not going. As far as I can tell, almost all the THSCC contingent has backed out or has not decided to go to the event, and I am not heading up there by myself to rallyX. So, unless something changes drastically within the next 96 hours, I am probably going to give up on going to this event as people have "other" things to do.

:(
