Continuing this year's "every other month" schedule, it's about time for another rallycross! For this 3rd event of the season we'll be making our first visit to our "BMW Farm" site in Clayton.

In our club's autocross circles, it is well established that 4WD cars require no real skill to drive, and their drivers are therefore talentless hacks. ;-) As these drivers struggle to find acceptance, they're being forced to learn to actually drive their cars or, in the local lingo, "dial the hack out". This time, event chairs (and Subaru owners) Brian Herring and Keith Vail bring us "Dial The Hack IN" as they show us what those cars are really good for!

As usual, our chef-in-residence Christine will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs onsite for lunch. $5 gets you a hamburger or hotdog meal, including chips, a drink, and dessert. Veggie burgers are available if you request ahead!

Event registration is now open at

http://thscc.com/rallycross/prereg_rallyx.html

Full event info, including times, prices, and directions are available here:

http://thscc.com/rallycross/events/2006 ... 6info.html

Hope to see you there!
Carl

Sadly, the MR2 found a new owner last weekend. A neighbor stopped by the house wondering if my parts Volvo was for sale and wound up making me an offer on the MR2. As Jim P. says, "everything is always for sale" and considering the offer was quite a bit more than I paid for it, I couldn't refuse. You guys in SU2 won't have me to kick around anymore.

I may bring the Laser back out but I'm not sure at this point (it needs tires badly). Besides, the Subaru guys probably can't handle getting dirt kicked in their collective faces by good 'ole American muscle *again*. :P

I'm hoping I'll get lucky with another cheap SU2 car but that is up to the fickle gods of fate.

Jim

Sorry to see you sell the MR2 but you are right, everything is for sale for the right price. Carl the only problem with your right up is I don't autocross a Subaru, I drive one of the little red miatas.

Can you consider the laser America muscle when most of the car was built by the japs?

Yup, I think I would pay about $30 to see it run.... ;)

Bring the AWD-goodness. I am 'super' excited to see Whitney in an AWD car, and if Mr "Fine"berg was there... wow, there would be A LOT of good people to learn from! :D

For this event we'll be trying something different- a new field! Whereas before you turned left just as the road started downhill, this time we'll be continuing straight almost all the way to the end, and turning right. For you folks trailering in your cars- think thin as you cross the bridge over the gully, as it's washed out on 1 side and very narrow! An alternate route would be up through the usual rallycross field and out through a gate at the far end.

The new field is a lot more rectangular and should allow some interesting course designs. There are 3 large ridges, similar to what's on the other field, but it'll be easy to cross them at a shallow angle to avoid any sharp transitions.

We'll have pits set up in one field and the course set up in another, so traffic will have to go through a gate on the way to/from the course.

I'm looking forward to this event! For some reason we only have 21 people signed up right now, though, so if you're planning to come please register!

Thanks!

So Carl would you recommend that we go through the usual field and use the gate at the far end if we are trailering since you said it was an alternate route. It would be nice to know this before I got there that is all.
