i think i suck less @ rallyX than autoX. less cones for one & generally more flowing courses

At least at our level, I do think it's probably easier to be relatively competitive in rallyX more quickly than in autoX. However, I think that's probably less because of course flow, and more about that rallyX is much less precise than autoX. By the event's very nature, the course is different every time for every driver & penalties, be they offline ones or cone ones, tend to help keep the slower more consistent driver in the hunt with the generally faster but more risk-taking driver. It's hard for even really good drivers to have *every* run be exceptional, as opposed to just 1 run.

But, I say that & then, whether it's autoX or rallyX, Tim Aro shows up & it doesn't matter how you drive or what you drive or what he drives, Tim wins. :whoknows: :)

well there is that, and there is the fact that dirt is way different than pavement. mind you this is my opinion, with the limited experiences i have. i have a difficult time with dry, sandy conditions. the last points event at Kevin's place was semi damp in the AM and i felt like i had more car control with the dirt in that condition. the PM session included the new section with new grass and my times worsened. so as i reread this Emmie, i guess i am restating your point.

but i still dislike sandy conditions. mud is at least slippery and as such predictable, and probably more attuned to my driving style. growing up in a snow belt region may have some benefit somehow, but i hasten to admit to it.

However, would you care to meet at the Kinston Dragstrip some Sunday afternoon this winter? :P

That's a pretty spunky attitude for somebody who lost to a Miata :nana:

Oh hell, who pulled your chain!
For the record, Dustin had a 4 second head start in a car with no wheel spin and still only won by a few thousandths. It is hard to sit at the tree that long watching the other guy get that far ahead. But yes, he won and I want a rematch! You can still have a 4 second head start.

Wait until you see the Sanford course this summer!

hmmnnn, Z06 course maybe? :D

Possibly! But, not over 60 mph, safe with some slow parts to attempt to keep most happy.
