I am OK with adding a POS class, but it seems to me like we'd have to have 2 rules to make it fair:
  1. No 4WD.
  2. Claimer rule such as "any POS class car owner must agree to sell his/her car to any competitor [or spectator?] for [some amount- $500?] within [some time- 20 minutes?] after the posting of results". Otherwise it'd be way too easy to have a super-dominating "POS" class car.

What do the rest of you think? Still interested?

I'll sell my share of the General Lei for $500 all day long!

I still think the rules for POS class (if we have a POS class) should be up to the members, not up to "the establishment."

Members would be those who are included by unanimous agreement.

Alright, we will let you lead that one up.

Good luck!

Even though I am not going to run there, I still think to disallow AWD cars is ... drivetrainist!!! Just because I got my Legacy for 200 UNDER the POS price doesn't mean I should not be able to run there.....

I am sure other POS drivers will see it the same way. I don't want to be denied the chance to put POS on the side of my car. :)

Just make POS == NOV. Once you win a few events, OUT you go, and no year end points for POS, that way it isnt a big deal. You get to compete against people, but it is only a weekend to weekend thing.

I think Dow's idea (it is his, isn't it?) to let the POS drivers let anyone in by unanimous consent then they stay in for the season is the best way to handle it. Claimer rules are a sure way to end friendships and SERIOUSLY up the ante. Yes some General Lei drivers would love to take $500 for the title but others who buy something cheap then pour tons of love and care (like rallyboy) into a car while still not spending much would never go for the claimer rule.

Fine with me.

Well, since the single factor (besides driver) that appears to make the biggest difference is 4WD, I think if you allow 4WD in POS then that would make 4WD the defacto requirement. That would put the Dirtmaster, General Lei, and in fact all current POS cars besides the Legacy, at a huge and immediate disadvantage. Hey, isn't that the car that you'll be driving? :brow:

Yeah, I got that impression.

I thought POS was for people who wanted to run cheap cars. Now there would be a time limit? Maybe some people might want to keep running their cheap cars- I believe we'll soon be starting Season 3 for the Dirtmaster, for example, and those guys look like they're still having fun.

OK, I've given my opinions on this, now I'm leaving it up to y'all. Email me a copy of the unanimously-agreed-on rules you come up with, and I'll post them on the website. Or just leave it as a free-form thing on the forum, if you'd rather. Make up your own paper class printouts and I'll make sure they appear in the results.

No, that is Kevin Allen's idea. I never come up with anything that useful :(

Are we making the rules for the class, or rules to fit the cars in the class?!?! :D

One rule:

POS class = any car is allowed if the owner is willing to spray "POS" on the side in permanent day-glow orange paint from a THSCC supplied spray can in minimum 24" tall letters.

End of discussion.

Since when do you have final say on what we paint onto the Legacy.

As for the rules. I can see where Carl is coming from about the 4WD allowance. There are so many factors that would have to be considered into the rules. The idea of the class is great but there are several kinks that need to be worked out. Such as tire allowances, drivetrains, engine sizes, etc...

Why not start a Poll just to see who would run POS class if we had it? The General/Vincent won SU2 the 2 events that rally tires were allowed at this year. With the chance of Carl and Rob heading to NU2 next year, provided the Dirtmaster stays in SU2, I don't think any of the General Lei crowd has any interest in it. I 'll be honest, if I know there are going to be AWD cars in POS class (running regularly all season), I will most definitely be running in SU2.
