FWIW, I tend to think that while the POS class has merit in concept, any implementation will be inherently flawed. If anything, it should be based on the fair market value of a car but even that is subject to some interpretation and abuse. In addition, in my mind, having a 4WD POS seems against the fundamental idea of such a class. But what do I know? I'm just a "pavement hack."

Why not start a Poll just to see who would run POS class if we had it? The General/Vincent won SU2 the 2 events that rally tires were allowed at this year. With the chance of Carl and Rob heading to NU2 next year, provided the Dirtmaster stays in SU2, I don't think any of the General Lei crowd has any interest in it. I 'll be honest, if I know there are going to be AWD cars in POS class (running regularly all season), I will most definitely be running in SU2.

Stephen's thoughts are pretty much the same as mine. I wanna run where the competiton is. I KNOW that if I drive well the Dirtmaster can be in the mix for the win on some courses. Hell look at our morning times at the last event, the Dirtmaster was not far off Carl with his rally tires. ALOT is course dependent, IMHO. It also helps to not drive with you head in your ASS

Agree with both the above. I think the KISS method here is to leave well enough alone. With the current classing structure, I just don't see the benefits outweighing the drawbacks. The only way I see to make this work across cars would be to implement some sort of :cough: PAX :cough: factor for at least the 4wd advantage, and then I think it would be too complex to be useful.

For me, I'll just run the CRX in SU2 and be done. I can be reasonably competitive and have fun if I run decent, and that's good enough for me. And if I want, SU2 allows mods to be more competitive.

That said, I'm all for us painting POS across Brian's car, whether or not we have the class :)

What if Rob and I end up running SU2 (to make Jim happy ;-) )? What class would you run then? Are y'all trying to run with me and Rob, or run away? I can't speak for Rob, but I'd rather not be in a class of 2. If y'all wanted to compete with me/us, that would influence me towards SU2. If y'all wanted your own sandbox, that would influence me (to a lesser degree) the other way. Thoguh it sounds, Ryan, like you and Stephen might give different answers to that question.

I may regret it later or may cause me to spend some $$ but

For some reason that little Toyota does it well in the dirt. If I drive my best, I "think" I can hang with you guys. The key is to keep my head out of my ass.

Also, how many "drops" do we get? With all that is going on in my life next year, hitting all the events is gonna be tough.

My first choice would be forget the POS class and us keep running in SU2 no matter who is running there. I don't know if the General will ever be as competitive as the Neon or the SE-R's, but it's been a whole hell of a lot of fun either way. If not winning was really bugging us....I think our group would have started looking at new cars by now....and that hasn't happened. Like Ryan said, looking at the last event, the Dirtmaster wasn't too far behind Carl in the morning, and the General was nipping at your mudflaps in the afternoon. It's kind of like the TIR class arguement in autocross....the people driving the POS's here ain't complaining....do we need to fix anything?

Are we trying to create the POS class because the non-POS drivers are getting nervous that one day the POS's are going to catch up?.....hmmmmmm

lemme see if i understand this. we can call it a POS but only because it was cheap to purchase. we then maintain/upgrade and compete with cars that would not normally be classed together so that something would be equivalent. what exactly is equivalent here? and isn't POS in the eye of the beholder?

i am opposed to a POS class given the explanation as i currently understand it. steve
