Thanks to everyone who took a chance on short notice and a slightly sketchy weather forecast to came out today! Needless to say, after a gray and somewhat threatening start, the day warmed up and become sunny and beautiful. Ahh, December in North Carolina, walking around in T-shirts...

The secret...come prepared with all your rain gear (as I did) and it never rains.

Anyway, we had 40 drivers, 12 of which were in the "Non-Street Tire" classes, which gave a pretty good test. And although we certainly developed some bumps and ruts, they didn't seem much worse than "normal", if at all, so I'd say we are definitely GO for allowing rally, snow, and knobby tires at both our sites for 2006.
A really good turn out especially considering the short notice. I'm glad to see the program growing in popularity. Now we're getting other people from Virginia and Natoinal champions to come and play.
BTW, Brian you should have been there to see Bob Ward show what an STi was made to do...run at WOT with all 4 tires spinning in the dirt! Now *that* was a show! If I ever get Randy Melton into RX the rest of you (who have never seen him drive) are in for a real treat.

The courses were fast and fun, and extra long- the morning course had an interior loop, and the afternoon course used an extra section of field (the part behind Kevin's mom's house, for those who know the site). The event ran quite smoothly- there was no dust, and although the rain last night had made the course quite slick in spots, there were very few DNFs or cone penalties.
The afternoon course was especially fun with the new section Kevin added. The bonsai-style finish was the perfect touch to the course too.

All in all, it was a great way to end the season. Thanks for all of you who came out and gave the sport a try this year, extra thanks to you die-hards who came to every event, and special thanks to Kevin for all his work this year- between site prep, course designs, ordering portajohns, and taking and posting photos, he's been a really busy man!
I'm definitely one of the die-hards. I haven't missed a THSCC RX event yet! Come to think of it I've made it to all the THSCC events (AX, RX, and HPDE) except one this year.
Hats off to Kevin and Carl for all the work they've put into the RX program this year. It's getting bigger and better every event. I can't wait ti start it all over again in 2006.
