Thanks to those who came out and participated- looks like we had a good turnout.

Extra thanks to those who chaired/setup/ran the event- you folks make these thing work soooo smoothly, it's sometimes easy to overlook all the work that goes into making an event like this run so well.

Sorry I could not hang around at the end- I had to meet a builder at our house at 5pm to discuss his proposal for a new shop building :)

Thanks for letting us come and tear up... err.. enjoy the field (well fertilized as well!!)

- Nice to see Kevin destroying us all in any car he chooses, and a BIG "welcome back" to Simon. Great job, mate!

- Nice to see the All Terrain Acclaim back on the tear, and SO many new people out there. I noticed that with just 7 more people, that is an extra 42 runs! Ack!

- Cosby: Great Run. You were once again, faster than Kevin... until he drove the 25RS.

- Keith Vail: Thanks for all your hardwork on the Legacy. That was my second rallyX, and with a car that was setup well, it made driving a pleasure.

- All the Subarus: It was nice to see Vincent swearing due to all the AWD launches ;)

I enjoyed the event, and I hope to go to another in the not too distant future ;).

Yes, I had fun too. Great to be back in the driver's seat. Next time I won't listen to Vincent when he tries to psych me before the last run after 5 clean and consistent runs. My sixth run was with the A/C on which may explain the slower time. But unfortunately it doesn't explain the cone. At least it wasn't the finish cone!

I had a great time as usual. My driving was pitiful and the cones and debeaded tires plagued my day. :x The legacy held up to yet another event and is still going strong. Brian, glad you enjoyed the Legacy. Simon it was great to have you back out there again. Now the Legacy just needs some better tires and if we are driving good and clean it can almost keep up with the WRX's. Once again thanks to Carl and Kevin for putting so much effort in to make the event run smoothly and thank you to Bret for letting us use the site and for reinflating my debeaded tire.

All of your FTD's are belong to meeeeee!!!!111!!1

:P

I had a lot of fun driving the STi, but that last run in the 2.5RS was a lot of fun, too. That car is just too damn easy to drive on dirt. Hopefully I'll have more grip on the STi by Dec. 3 - it was a double handful today.

I got some really good photos of a lot of people today, and they may eventually make it to the Internet. But you'll definitely be able to see them if you come to the xmas party. :D

Thanks everybody for coming to play with us, and thanks to everybody who put in extra effort to make sure things ran well.

See you in 2 weeks... :D

Oh, yeah - and we plan to pick up the bus and bring it over here on Monday, Bret - ok? We'll be in VA tomorrow (I'm taking the STi, Brian). 8)

That was a non-inclusive statement. You taking the STi, or are you taking the STi AND the RS ;)

Let me know what tires you decided to rally on (don't think you had a choice in that matter), and good luck. I hope I don't see an imprint of a tree on the side of the STi when you come back :D

It won't be a tree. If anything it will be a tractor tire!

A big Thanks from me to the event chairs and a special thanks to Bret Luter. I'm not sure just how many tires he re-mounted, but he helped wrestle a ruptured inner-tube out of the Dirtmaster's front tire and get it back in the action. I owe someone a tire valve and I'm ashamed to admit that in the rush to get the tire back in service I missed the proper introduction. Thanks, and I owe you one.
I think the Dirtmaster team takes the slow learner award for debeading tires at the same spot three times. We eventually figured out that it was better to either go slower or go around the bump in the final turn in the afternoon, but dang-it, it was in the perfect, well swept line.

Speaking of 2 weeks, I don't guess there's any way of doing this on Sunday instead of Saturday is there? Both Jon and I have committed to positions on the 3rd with SCR's White Knoll High School event for charity.

I would really like to get up there and at least watch the running on rally tires but SCR is kind of short on Safety Stewards at this time. They are training some more in January but that doesn't help right now.

We're back from VA. Took the STi and ran on "grooved slicks" in WRC terms. It was wet and muddy in the morning, so I was really slow, but it dried out and turned to half & half dirt & tarmac, so I improved by 7 seconds per run in the afternoon. (I think I was pretty close to single-run FTD :D ) Also had an off in the morning, on my second run - I went for the brakes and they weren't there. Steered it off the course past the hay bales & stalled it when I hit the brakes a second time & forgot to hit the clutch, so I had crank it up, back up & then finish the course. The braking issue continued throughout the day, so I had to pump the pedal a few times each time I wanted to slow down. I think what was happening was that when I came out of the slower corners I was blending the dirt up and coating the rotors with it, then when I would hit the brake pedal, the dirt would keep the pads from biting.

No imprints of anything, but remember the small tree at the top of the hill exiting the big curve in the afternoon, Cosby & Phillip? Well one of the fwders flattened it in the afternoon session, and awd ran first AM and last PM, so guess what line I took at the exit? First time Christine rode with me, she screamed when we jumped the tree.

The 2.5RS with rally tires would've owned, but I'm glad I took the STi - it was a lot of fun with all that power and little to no grip.

Also, I think that our course on Saturday was equal in fun to Oakland Acres on Sunday. :D

I could do either Saturday or Sunday. I just put up the event on the prereg page as Dec 3rd, but I can change it to the 4th if that's what everyone would prefer.

Let's move discussion of this new event to the thread I just created for it.
