Just so there is no confusion today::

Carl:
I can leave work at 2pm. That is about the earliest time I can get out of here. Please make plans accordingly if this affects anything.

See you at the Steer Ranch a 3 clicks after high noon.

So if Kevin locks the STi in full rear, that would put him in the SO2 class. Who's in favor of him doing that?

It's actually not full rear, it's full open. As in open center diff. When the rear wheels start spinning (and they do pretty easily, trust me  ) the power doesn't get transferred to the front. Ends up driving a lot like Mike's BMW.

Full lock is a totally different story - I can't even do "spinning top" type scoobnuts in full lock mode; it just kinda drifts around in a big circle. The FXT locks 50/50 in 1st and 2nd and does the same thing, unless it's really wet.

I'm going to do a few runs in auto and a few runs with diff lock, and see how much difference I can feel - and whether there's a real difference in times. I'm guessing diff lock will cut a couple tenths per corner over auto mode. Probably drop a few tenths at the start, too.

... but it is still a 35/65 split. The front tires still dig.

Are you sure it is 'full open' with nothing going to the front? I didnt think that was possible with our transmissions.

Why must you insist on ruining my fun? I want him to beat up on another class so I have a chance of beating Philip and taking 1st for once.

You should have taken first overall quite a few times. The last TWO events, you had the fastest RAW time (non-rally tire). You just need to do that EVERY run.

it's like an open diff on a FWD car - one starts spinning, and what does the other one do?

John Felstead (sp?) has covered this in one or more of his massive nasioc threads - you get the rear tires spinning and it's a drift machine until you lift (and if you do that too abruptly you're going backward)
