The purpose of my suggested X class was to segregate the cars, not the drivers... me on rally tires = X; me on street tires = SO4

I don't think we need to take the top drivers out of each class & put them in a separate class just to give out more trophies. Sounds too much like autox...

I'm for it, but can we call it "ELITE" class instead of "X"?

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I am all for running a class like that.

Ha! Just call it "TIR" and everyone will race there!

We could call it T class and you could get a year-round number of 133.

Y'all ain't right. I'm all for a rally tire class.

I've got an idea: (scary but true) Why not run all rally tire people after _all_ other cars have run their 6 runs for the first event or two? This way if the rally tires cause major ruttage the only people affected will be those who chose to run the class.

I don't see a single "X" class as an improvement over the existing NU2, NO2, and NO4 classes (please see http://www.thscc.com/rallycross/info/rallyx_rules.html#classes). A Neon and a WRX will be no more equally matched on rally tires than they are on street tires. Or were you suggesting a free-for-all "fun run" class that would not be part of the competition?

If I'm understanding you right, Kevin, wouldn't that mean doing another course swap during the event?

Nah, just run the rally tire people after the end of the regular event and before fun runs as the end of the second afternoon run group for a test. Odds are there won't be enough cars on rally tires to seriously mess up the run/work split. It might even help a bit if we put the rally tire people for working purposes in with 4wd.

HEAR HEAR! It's so much fun going out and playing in the dirt, but man was it apparent at the last rally just what sort of ratio there is between SO4/SO2 and SU2. Less than a 30 minute run group for the first group and slightly over an hour for the second group. Plus with the amount of people NOT on the course to work. Some places aren't so bad, but if you are at a station by yourself, it's pretty difficult to call, run, replace, run, call again (cuz the next car hit a cone on the opposite side from where you were), run, replace, you get the picture. We need more help for the course workers on the second and third runs. Oh well.

Woah woah woah.... so wait a minute here.

Are you ASKING for more AWD hacks?!?!?! In THSCC??!?!?!?! LOLzers!!!

Good luck with that.

I think it WOULD be a good way to even out the classes and runtimes a bit as well. However, if it becomes 'popular', it wont work that nicely.

I think we should have a 'test' event just to see how it works. Get some people with some 'rally' tires out there, give them a number of runs that would equal a 'full' Rally tire class, and see how it works?

Carl? Kevin? Thoughts? A test would be the best way to do this, I think.

I will help setup and all the fun stuff (before I get reamed).

Well, I was assuming that anyone who was running rally tires would be so much more elite than everyone else that showed up that trophies would be beneath them. Plus, there probably wouldn't be too many people using them this year. So that's why I was talking about running all the rally tires together in X class.

And YES! the X class would work the course with SO4. I posed the question "why the Hell aren't you people showing up at rallycrosses" to the SE nasiocers, and I was pretty much ignored - except by the guy I offended. So I don't think we can count on many of those guys showing up. :(

Carl, Kevin, etc. I am all for a rally tire class. Mostly since I don't have any decent street tires for the rally car :(

If you want uses rally tires. I also have a supply under Matt Robinson's deck. I also can help steer people towards sources for used rally tires.

Matt Smith

It makes no differnce to me if we can do it 1 site or all the sites. Any opportunity to run on rally tires is good!

If we can find a stockpile of cheap used rally tires, how about street tire class winners get a free set of used rally tires instead of a trophy?

"Congratulations, now get out of my class, punk-ass."

Hey I'm just here to help :)
