Thanks to everyone for a great event. I had a blast and didn't hit a finish cone!

Thank you very much to everyone for my birthday cards and the birthday cake.

No, Simon only hit half of them; his son took out the other half... apple doesn't fall far from the tree, right?

I had a great time - big thanks to the event chairs, including Mike Whitney, who didn't make it because he was sick. The course flow was his idea, Dustin & I just threw out the cones & made it work. This was one of my favorite courses - some good speed, but technical & tricky.

Awesome day - if you missed it, you really missed out. :(

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped with setup, registration, timing, cooking, and everything else. You guys rock! (Christine said that :D )

See you next time...

Results are now up! It looked like our streak of good weather was going to end with this event, but we decided to run an accelerated schedule, using a quicker launch interval and shortening the lunch break a bit. It helped that the course held up so well during the morning runs that almost no rerouting was necessary for the afternoon course.

The weather forecast likely scared some folks away, but in all 33 drivers turned out for the day. Everyone got 6 runs, lunch (with birthday cake for Simon), plus fun runs, and we were packed up and finished with trophies by 2:30. We got out of there just before the rain came in!

Thanks to Kevin Allen, Brian Herring, Stacy Herring, and Dustin Fredrickson for chairing the event!

If you had been present during all the ass-whooping that occurred while Jim Feinberg was in SO4 last year, and when Phillip first showed up & actually dodged the cones  , you wouldn't be saying that. I definitely don't take anything for granted with Phillip, and somebody new could show up any time & show us both how slow we really are.

As for the schedule, Keith Quistorff showed up a little after 2pm & expected to see us still running. He was like, hmmm, where is everybody? :? He did get a ride in the FTD car, albeit without any cones... but the cool thing about a rallycross is that the course is still pretty easy to follow after all the cones are gone.

Jim IS UBER fast in the SU2 class. He was only 1.5 seconds back of you going into the afternoon!!! :o

However, my comment is in reference from the guy that said:

" They have thrown rally cars at me, and I have still won (i.e. Anders)." ;)

Yea, I guess I should just change out the suspension and get out there already .....

It was a great rallyX.... I hope we can have an event before Aug now that we have an awesome site. I am just glad I could be of *some* help out there.

I'll sign up right now to help again ;)

Thanks, Kevin, I really appreciate you taking me out for a lap, a freakin' blistering lap at that. Me having zero off-road experience on four wheels made it particularly interesting - I can't believe how much abuse a street suspension can take.

Keith (who needs to figure out what to do about a car for rallycross  )

Its not 4wd mechanical masterpiece, but there at least 2 cars that always have open seats for rent to anyone. The Dirtmaster and The General Lei.

In fact....1/5th of the General is still for sale (contact Mike Westerfield for details). And for the first time since it's debut....the General beat the Dirtmaster this weekend!!!

I think it's worth noting that both of these cars have seen MANY runs with MANY drivers. For cars that some would call a "beater", they sure have held up very well to LOTS of abuse.

Sure a 4WD Suby would be fun, but if I damage the General Lei beyond repair, I'm only out of about $120.00 total. 8)

Multiply that run by 1000 and that's about what the blue 2.5RS took in the 100k miles before I traded it in - and the only things that had to be replaced that were directly related to rallyx were the rear Konis (they were set medium stiff on stock springs & had cut bumpstops - I learned something from that  ) and the right front wheel bearing... but that was partly due to track use.

The Dirtmaster is a fun drive - if you don't find something awd, you should co-drive it.
