A friend of mine, Mike Merbach, is driving down from Wisconsin with his wife and family for their annual "spring break road trip" and will be competing in the rallycross on Saturday.

We thought it might be fun to go out for dinner together afterwards and do some go-karting, and maybe try to get a group of folks together who'd be interested in doing either or both.

I thought they might enjoy some good southern BBQ for their dinner. As for go-karts, both Funwerks on Tryon Rd and Adventure Landing on Capital say they will be running karts on Saturday night unless it's raining, and rain does not appear to be in the forecast.

Please reply here if you'd be interested.

Thanks!

We would be interested in the Food and fun... not the RallyX.

Count us in if the weather is good! :)

That sounds like loads of fun but I think I will be having to get my butt back to Travelers Rest. Win a cart race for me.

I'm probably not gonna make that. We got a couple of friends who are coming in as well (not as far of a drive though) and are gonna end up doing dinner with them. Have fun!!

Here is the plan. Meet at the Smithfield Chicken & Barbeque Restaurant at Jones Sausage Rd (I-40 exit 303 I believe) at 6:00PM on Saturday. Eat, socialize, repeat. Continue on to the Funwerks (may be called Putt-Putt now, not sure) on Tryon Rd, which is right at the I-40 Gorman St exit. Our ETA there is 7:30PM.

Please reply here if you're interested in dinner so I have an idea about headcount. If you're just up for karts you can meet us there.

You can reach me by cell on Saturday at 919-545-6014.

Thanks!

Carl,
Count me in for dinner. I may also do karts too.

We had a great time! George Bright met us (the Merbachs, me, and Andrew Frick) for dinner, as did Emmie, Dave and Crystal Blum, and Dave's sister Karen. After dinner, the whole group met Eric Adams at Funwerks, where we played laser tag and rode carts. After a while the "active" group dwindled to the guys causing mayhem on the slick track while the others watched. The weather really held out for us this whole weekend- instead of being cold and rainy it was warm and sunny! Can't get too mad about that missed forecast! :woo:
