which car?
The WRX had around a half tank, but the Forester had a little less than that. The Forester also had 2 passengers on the 51.5 sec afternoon run, and I was driving at about 8/10ths.

(I wasn't driving at 8/10ths EVER in the WRX)
When I get that beawtch broken in (has 500 miles on it now

), drop 300 lbs worth of passenger & get the WRX sedan takeoff suspension on it...
The courses yesterday were really all about knowing where to go fast & where to take it easy so you could hold the fast line & not get bogged down in the loose dirt on the outside of the turn. Car prep/weight had very little to do with the times people were running.
For any of the 2WDers who are reading this & wondering what went wrong, next time you should watch Rob Bergstrom & do EXACTLY what he does. It was interesting seeing all the 2WD guys go flying through those turns at the back of the field & bog, and then seeing the difference in line & technique as Rob (& Carl Fisher

) ran, and flew out of the turns. Didn't see Feinberg back there, but I'm sure he was doing it right, too. Once everybody starts learning the nuances of what is the proper line & how to stay there, that's when the car differences are going to influence the times. And then the competition will
really start heating up.
But back to the handling of the WRX wagon, I did remove the spare tire this time & I did that turn-down pipe that took 20 lbs of muffler off. I could definitely feel a difference when braking from high speeds. Last rallyx it got really loose every time I had to do that, and I ended up wasting time trying to return from being sideways. So if you were having any problems with that, dropping some weight from the rear should help.
