Ok, so I'm ready to try this rallycross thing, but I don't own an appropriate car (my '97 Integra is my daily driver -- can't afford to beat it up too much). I'm thinking of renting a compact of some sort, maybe a Focus. Is this a good idea, or not worth the risk of damage? Alternatively, can anyone hook me up with a temporary/cheap set of wheels for the Dec. 4 event?

I just realized no one replied to your questions! Renting a car would probably be fine for the first-time, but after a few events it's probably not the best idea - those cars come with soft sidewall tires and pretty weak steel rims. As you get faster, weak tires and wheels can be a real liability.

I can probably hook you up with a ride in the 1989 Toyota Corollovera at this event. My "seat" in the co-owned car is empty (I'll be trying a different car) and I'd be happy to rent it to you for a small fee. I'll send you an email with some details.
