I'm pretty sure that beach driving comes with some caveats, like "speed limit 10mph", to avoid damaging the sand dunes and surrounding ecosystems.

Plus you would have to have the "low tide course" and the "high tide course". ;) Inbetween those would make for some cool pictures! (and some vehicle destroying salt sprays. :( )

Tarheel and NCR ran a joint event at Carolina Beach many years ago. The City fathers blocked off the main drag through town so we could auto-x there. The Highway Patrol took a dim view of this since no one in the city got permission to block off the highway. The city guys said what are you going to do arrest the city? We were allowed to finish the event but we never went back there.

This is the first time I've been to the r-x forum.

I'll speak from experience on Carolina Beach and say that while there's enough room to hold an event there, unless you've got about 10" ground clearance AND 4 wheel drive you won't get very far. I nearly got my S-10 stuck once while in 4x4. You have to use 4-low due to the VERY soft and loose sand and all the bubbas in their muddin' trucks with 20' lifts and 40" tires creating very deep ruts.

Oh btw, you probably wouldn't have too much trouble from the authorities but might with the bubbas. The community is trying to crack down a little but it's still pretty much anything goes out there.
