Some of you may have noticed that these events have been on the rallycross prereg page for a few days now, but I'm just now getting around to making the announcement.
We've added 2 fall events to the 2004 rallycross calendar-
Saturday, September 25th, and
Saturday, November 20th - both to be held in Four Oaks. That will bring the total number of events for 2004, the first full year of our rallycross program, to
six (6), well ahead of Shawn's and my modest original 2004 goal of 3 events.
For this I can only thank the extremely energetic and motivated group of new rallycross enthusiasts in this club, ably led by Kevin and Christine Allen, Peter Baio, Kevin Hoff, and Mike Whitney, though plenty of others helped as well. To all of you who pitched in, THANKS!
With a schedule like this, those of you who've been on the fence about trying rallycross might want to seriously consider buying (or buying in to) a suitable rallycross vehicle. Keep in mind that it doesn't
need to be a beater. If you check the results you'll see that the vast majority of the cars entered are pretty normal street cars. But it also seems to be true that "normal" performance-car characteristics aren't as important on dirt as they are on pavement, so an especially powerful or good-handling car may not offer that much of an advantage. I would venture to say that the car that you'll have the most fun in, and that will give the best results for you, is one that you can flog mercilessly without a giving it a moment's thought.
Anyway, I just wanted to share the good news. Rally on!
Edit: For now both new events are passcode-enabled, but we will be discussing that issue further and making a decision on it soon. But in the meantime, the dates are firm, so make your plans accordingly!
