Pete and are signed up as course marshals. Heading down Friday afternoon.
I believe that there is still a great need for volunteers. there are over 100 entries, so there should be plenty to see.
If you sign up to work you can request to work the same stage as other THSCC members.

By my count, there are 5-6 THSCC'ers entered. (And Ray's "car" is a bunch of boxes at the moment. :-))

Roary the Super Beetle and I have signed up to be course marshals. I plan to go down Friday morning and attend the novice rally school. I am staying at the Days Inn.

Pete & I are staying at Inn Cheraw (a tradition). We once stayed at the Executive, and it was bad.
What's the Novice Rally school?

Novice Rally School: To get a 'full' NASA Rally Sports license you have to attend 3 novice rally classes. At Sandblast it is usually 10-noon on Friday. It goes over the basics of the time sheets, basics of rally notes, very basic driving discussions, how the rally is organized, a lot about safety, and stuff like that. For drivers and co-drivers there is a minimal charge, but volunteers can attend for free (might have to pay the minimal charge to make it official). I have been to two classes (got credit once, they forgot me the 2nd time).

It is an interesting way to learn a little more about rallying, and another chance to meet the drivers and co-drivers.

The Novice school sounds cool. I thought perhaps it might be a chance to drive some and I migh skip work for that. Still, it would be good to learn more of the nuts & bolts of rally.

I have a friend Robert who is going with me. However, Robert is smart, he is going to follow the Bug in his Subaru. I do not know yet if Robert is going to spend the day helping to course marshal, or if he will try a couple of the spectator areas (he has never been to a stage rally before).

It's been a desire to work at one of these and maybe someday run in one, but I've not yet been able to find the time.

I will be hanging in the pits for the cars to come in. Hoping for an uneventful weekend!

After the past two weeks you gotta love the weather forecast for Sandblast. I'm almost tempted to skip the hotel and camp out in the forest.
