How should we handle the September event? (Please read the message(s) before casting your ballot.)
I would love to drive on the clay based VIR rally school course that is closer than Danville. 52%  52%  [ 14 ]
No thanks I'm happy with our two current sites. 0%  0%  [ 0 ]
This should replace our scheduled September 21st event (one event that month). 30%  30%  [ 8 ]
I would happily run two events in September (7th & 21st). 19%  19%  [ 5 ]
Keep the September 21st Fayetteville event and forget VIR. 0%  0%  [ 0 ]

Hey Guys, we should probably refrain from discussing the pricing of VIR on a "public" forum. We may be getting a really good rate that they would like to keep confidential. Also, we haven't had a chance to debrief the staff on how the course held up. If they think that some extra $ is needed to re-grade we may have to re-negotiate.
On the other hand, if we can start growing the attendance to close to 50 entries then we can probably tolerate a cost increase should it come.

From all who made comments, it appears that VIR is now a must have site. In the coming days we will be having conversations with the track to see how many events we can hold and what if any restrictions there will be regarding conflicts with other weekend events. I can just see us hobnobbing with the Ferrari club race weekend in our dirty beaters. That might require that we bring our own lunch and stay away from the paddock

Yes, don't ever discuss the pricing again. Just send the check for the amount originally agreed upon before each event.

I'm planning to set up some group rally car testing and a NASA Rally Sprint out there, so nobody better screw this up for us. Thanks.

If you have a NASA stage rally-legal race car and are interested in details, contact me privately.

What also worked was having the event on Saturday. Some people can't make Sundays, and its nice to have a choice.

Having Saturday events is fine if the setup folks can take a day off work to do setup. Luckily Drew had the day off, and I had vacation. Kevin somehow managed to make it up to assist and Erik and Arlene were able to get in after 5:00. (only a couple of folks were allowed in before 5:00 due to track policy)

This site might be more conducive to Saturday events since future set up might be a little easier if we can get away from needing cones. Even though there were only a few cones on the road that had to be driven around (slalom to drop speeds in rough spots), there were still quite a few cones for marking hazards and guiding folks around deep mud. Also there was timing to get setup. In general, it will take more setup folks to make Saturday events work out well.

Perhaps it's time to ask for more setup volunteers. We could probably do Sat events if we had a cadre of setup folks who could arrive early and get everything set up by 8:30.
Just my $0.02

That would be hilarious.Dusty beater vw and multi dollar ferrari.I would just say they need to bring their lancia! Stratos and rally car at our event.
NASA and SCCA get the word out,we need more real rally cars at our events.

That was the best rallycross, ever. It seems we pulled in some guys from Virginia or a bit further west in NC. If we can get our numbers up to 40+ cars every event, it would be great.

I do have some feedback. I think the cone rules being a bit different caused a bit of a kerfuffle. If we are going to use warning cones, brake point cones, etc, it would be great to get yellow cones to use so it would be clear to everybody that yellow cones don't count. Consider it very minor feedback, as new people get more experience it may not even justify the cost.

My opinion was that every standing cone between the start and finish should count. Obviously, if you put them there to mark some danger, you don't want people running over them and getting close to the danger. So there should be a penalty. Otherwise, they're fair game, and certain people will just mow them down every run and put themselves in danger. But I know you guys like to have cars hit things this year, so whatever. But if you don't want them to count, just use pointers to make it easier for the new course workers.

You have a good point about danger, Kevin.

If we had more radios, we could have spread the workers out a bit more so that the "danger" cones were under supervision. That may have also solved the problem of having cones down on multiple runs.

The main reason not to count some cones is that they were on the outside of turns where dirt spray can (and does ) knock them down. It seemed prudent to put cones there as an advisory.

If they cones are not suppose to count then they need to be laid down. If they are standing up they need to count, You cant say that this one standing counts but this one over there does not. That just doesnt work. Yes there are suppose to have flags under them to tell the difference but if a driver really runs it over the flags can disappear also!

I am a proud supporter of "if the cones are standing they count, if they are laying down they do not".

Worst case DONT put any cones out!

While feedback is always welcome,it was a experiment..From this,we can learn and grow as a club..Without knowing ahead of time, what would it be like..There is no real way to be saying,ok this is this..that is that.We thank you and we love that all of you enjoyed it,from this we cna learn as a club and move forward.I do hope the site can be rented more often, and we will going forward know better what to do with teh cones.
