Great site and event. That was a fast course. I think it was about a 1/2 mile course in 40 seconds (~45MPH average). That seems too fast but it's not too far off. Perhaps someone has some in car video.

Too fast? Bah! Pssst...when you lock the brakes after the finish you loose control. We never had an issue in the General, and before anyone says we weren't going that fast, Jeremy and Court were fast and they had no issues with either finish. Sebastian did have issues, but that's because, well, you know.

The course was fast and fun. The General Lei still runs like a top, but he needs another 70HP to contend with the Guthrie's SE-R. The weather was nice, and we all had fun though, which is what it's all about.

As I listened to the rain fall all through the night and thanked our lucky stars that it waited until we were done.

Thanks to everyone for their patience during our inaugural event using the AX-Ware timing and scoring software. This is new software for the rally-x users (autocrossers have been using it for a few years). Some of the things that we thought we understood about deleting re-run times, etc. didn't quite work the way we thought which resulted in a lot of manual manipulation of the data entry to reconcile the results with the hand written score sheets. (Thank heavens that Michale types so fast.) Deleting the reconnaissance runs and red flagged runs created some problems we had to learn to solve the hard way. Next time for sure!

I want to say a special thanks to the Suich father & son team for helping with the timing and scoring. This is the most demanding job of the whole event and we really appreciate anyone who steps up to the task.

But, what a great day of rally-x! I had a blast and I hope everyone there did as well. This site should provide the room for some really creative courses in the future.

I hope to see everyone at our next event in Wilson on June 9th.

Charlie Guthrie

Yeah, this "newest SE-R" is not only running well, but it is extensively "chemically lightened" by rust. There are so many holes in the under body that the interior is actually less dusty with the windows down. I tried one run with the windows up and could hardly see or breathe. Chris Suich suggested using what he used, expanding foam in all the rusty nooks and crannies to block dust entry. I can see that happening before the next event.

Thanks to Vincent and Carl Fisher for continuing to encourage me to try left foot braking.....Wow what a difference that makes! These two courses were an ideal practice ground for rotating the car with the left foot.

Just to clarify... I meant that my estimate seemed too fast, but now that you reminded me of the post finish antics, perhaps I was not.

I did a 180 after the finish on my freebie run on the morning course, but since I wound up facing in such a way that I was looking exactly at the timing gear (and my time), it was intentional. Prove that it wasn't.

It took me the entire decel lane to stop. I hit the brakes on the fuel cut, 62 mph roughly. and she slid and slid. Not a bad thing, but it was entertaining to use the entire lane to stop. I got into trouble with teh truck too, i was coming back from MCdonalds. And was bob tail, and i hit a deep patch of sand, at about 20 mph. And when I use the brakes, the fronts locked on her and i slid a ways. ABS is on the back axle, btu not the front. To keep her straight in a slide towing. Well that meant i could not steer. That was a interesting few seconds. The dirt going in and out was fine, but it could be slick if you hit the wrong patch in a heavy truck.Anyhow, overall i really liked it alot. Damn shame i dnf that one run, otherwise i would have had 2nd that day! I almost wanna swap into my old nissan the drivetrain. The body is better on that one, and the springs are heavier. Then sell the old rusted nissan at the metal place, like we did that parts car.

Thanks to everyone who came out on Sunday! We had some teething pains on switching to new software, but Charlie and I were happy to get the timer, laptop, AXWare (new software) and timing display working.

I apologize for the length of time it took to get the results, but this was the first time any of us have used AXWare, so there was a learning curve. The software doesn't seem to be able to handle re-runs and dropping the first run, so I had to figure out work-arounds as we went along. Luckily, we recorded every run on paper with notes so I was able to double check everything in AXWare against what we saw with our own eyes. Sometimes I think it'd be easier just to put the times in a spreadsheet, but at the moment AXWare is the only thing powering the display.

The nicely formatted results will be up tomorrow, but I wanted to get the standings out asap. My apologizes to Courtney, who had been first, EXCEPT I hadn't taken into account a DNF in the afternoon on his second run of 43.256. Courtney, if you think this is in error, please let me know.

A hearty welcome to newcomer Andrew Mende in an Eagle Talon, who very nearly topped everyone in his first rallyxcross. In all fairness, though, his car is a prepped rally car and I understand he competes in actual stage rallies.

We also had a few spectators who hung around watching. At the next race I think we should grab spectators and get them into cars as passengers immediately. I realize the extra weight slows you down, but they're more likely to come and compete after a ride-along, and if they're at the event watching they must be pretty interested to drive to Fayetteville and waste time on a Sunday watching dust. I encourage everyone at the next event to notice people you don't recognize hanging around and get them into cars.

I was in the bus. I remember two DNF calls. There were only a few DNF calls if not the two. One was Sebastian's Finish cone DNF. The other I had been watching out the window towards the oval track. I remember a car that after coming from the sweeper making the left and then the right towards the finish stretch something didn't seem quite right on the course line. Then the call came in. I can't say I absolutely remember that it was Courtney's car number, I just remember the general circumstance. It was pretty dusty. There was 2 cones there that you had to pass on the left. Perhaps he missed one.

I know i dnf, first time run I missed a cone on the finish line.I was heading toward the finish and went left of one cone not right. I thought it looked a little strange, and then i saw the mistake. OH WELL! great fun though, i must say going toward the finish in the morning, was slippery, my front tires were spinning ALOT, making steering interesting.

Thanks to the Guthrie's for camping out in the bus and spending their weekend at the raceway to make this happen.

I'll second that! I really appreciate the effort they put in so we could race. Driving the bus all the way there and back, AND camping out to protect the equipment at night is an incredible contribution.

I was at worker station 1, so I saw the early cones and late cones for all the 4WD runs. I know that Courtney hit the last cone before the finish on 2 runs in the morning. I do not remember his having any problems early or late in the afternoon runs. I remember someone else DNFing on the late cones in the afternoon, but it was in their practice run. If Courtney DNFed in the afternoon, I think that it must have been up toward the sweeper (or I was lost in a cloud of dust and someone else called it).

Great courses, lots of fun. Now if I can just learn how to drive the Bug without doing 'penalty loops' in the middle of my runs!

I saw somebody taking video of the event. Does anybody have any idea who that was or if it is able to be viewed by the public?
