Some participants knew when to throw in the towel when the mud got too deep, and some of us kept running until the car gave up. I fell into the later class. In trying to avoid deepening mud I tried a slightly different line and discovered a big rock that punctured the oil pan. The car was lucky because other bouncing caused the engine to move enough to pull the upper radiator hose off (who left that loose?). The rush of steam at the finish line encouraged me to park the car on the trailer before the oil ran out....hooray!
The local TV channel 13 came out for a video shoot, but apparently it wasn't a slow news day and all that shows up on the website is an "interestingly" edited story. http://www.wset.com/story/17926836/tar-heel-sports-club-holds-road-rally-cross-in-danville. I attempted to get the camera person out onto the course where there was some mud slinging going on, but she kept well back from the action. She was a nice lady with a good interviewing style, but we don't get to see any video footage.

Ryan and I pulled a few rocks out of the racing line as we were going out to work. They were *big*.

I think that area could be a really neat place to race IF it was much drier and if some grooming was done to the course. There is the potential for some really long course setups, but the rocks were a bit crazy. I'm going to have to crawl under the forester and make sure my CV boots and things didn't get torn up and see if the skidplate got dented or if the frame took the hit I heard that made me decide to take a DNF for my last run.

We still played because hey.. we have a trailer queen that is 900 dollar car at best.. We have parts, so as long as something major does not go, we are fine.
I love getting out in mud and slinging it! But you all knew that by looking at the underside of my wrx! The ruts were bad, but our car has lotsa ground clearence with those springs on it.. So I was not concerned. We did get the truck stuck! That was alot of work getting it out. If they can work the stuff so it does not tear up or stone up, it may be good. It just got so torn up and muddy, Again I did not care, I have been in worse.. But it was pretty bad.Up to you guys, our car can be fixed, so we can fix her up we think.. And be back out in no time.. In other news, I have begun sparring in TKD! My blocking sux, because I have not done this in 20 years..but I will get there. This is fun stuff.

hahahahahaha. eventually, we will have like maybe a skid plate on our car. We cant figure out where to put one yet, so oil pans are a risky issue,I had fun personally. Right up until it broke.. OH well! Its a old car, its gonna break. Anyway, we think we can fix it, we will be back soon. We have a welder, if need be we can weld it up adn fix that way.But the mud was fun, i love getting out and slinging mud! Even my mountain bike has seen its fair share of the deep stuff!
Ive been in mud up to my forks, and still made it in low gear!
Check this out. its a big block chevy mud truck. 4x4.. with four link suspension, tractor tires, custom 20 inch tractor rims, a built 540cid chevy engine with a 1071 blower. 1200hp! 5k lbs. That is a sick power to weight ratio for a truck. monster truck engine specs man. may even burn alchohal. watch this trucks front end just walk whenever he hits the loud pedal, even les corvette cant do this. this is in dirt too, not asphalt. slick mud!

Hey, now, some of us don't have any other car to drive if we break our rallycross machine!

I hope to fix that soon, but I have to get a battery in the Golf. I had the old one on a trickle charger, but it won't charge all the way.

While the ruts and rocks were a problem.. The forester has great ground clearence. The wrx has a oil filter right on the bottom of the motor, so I do have ot be careful on deeep stuff. But other than that its ok usually. If I have the ground clearence, it can go just about anywhere.

Is there going to be an official announcement about the results from this race? There's no results posted.

Um, did Webmaster get sent the .TMR file from the event? If so, I must've lost it (I was out of town when the event happened). Can a VP or event chair re-send it please?

Thanks!

Last I heard, Sebastian had the file on a USB drive necklace, and was going to send it when he got home.
