I'm thinking of going and volunteering, but I'll have to see how things are closer to the event before knowing for sure. If anyone's going to race in it i'd be more than will to help out in the pit area instead though.

If you guys need some help, I am going. I was gonna volunteer again but I'd be happy to crew with you guys.

ps. I'm shopping for a stage rally subaru. Preferably a GD chassis 2.5 RS. I would just gut, cage, and seam weld my RS but seems like you can buy a car already built for about half what it costs to build one. I already have a tow RV and enclosed trailer. Just need a car.

I'd be glad to crew as, just let me know if you need an extra hand.

I've also been looking for a used rally car for a little over a year now. It does seem to be cheaper to by one pre-built. Most of the one's I find online though are in California, Colorado, Washington, and such places, nothing relativity close.

My car is slowly coming back together after repairs following a seriously failed motor mount at the last event. We will be entering Sandblast 2012. At Sandblast 2011 two trees conspired to take us out. We're coming back for revenge.

We're also using the event as a shakedown for WRC Rally Mexico - to make sure the car is as ready as it can be,

Simon

Someone who either has never seen him drive or an idiot? :D Seriously Sebastian can drive, but when there are hard things (like trees) to hit you'd never get me in that passenger seat!

the road last year, was so slick and wet.. we really took off our hats, to the racers.. especially the bikes.. that mess was slippery as hell! :sing: we were going 30-40 and we were sliding around like soap in a tub. we have mud and snow tires on my wrx, but it did not matter, as it was slick as ice. hopefully those trees will grow legs and move. the tdi golf hopefully will be there.. though that peugoet was fast.

I was down there last week doing route verification and correction for Anders. And I was looking for those trees - had even taken an axe and saw to exact my revenge.

Here is the L3 where we wrecked as seen from my in-car video...

and here it is now...

So I didn't need my axe after all.

I have volunteered to course marshal again. I had a ball last year. I plan to go down Friday morning again and attend the novice class like I did last year. I learned a whole bunch about rallies.

I hope that it will be a little warmer and a lot drier than last year.

I also hope that I do not end up in the hospital after I get home Sunday afternoon like last year! I hang around cars and bikes going crazy on slippery roads, not a scratch. Go home and do laundry and I end up in the hospital with wrist surgery! Moral of the story, rally is safer than doing laundry (at least for me!).

Maybe in 2013 my 72 Super Beetle will be running to drive around the course to a marshal station. It is making progress (the motor actually runs while sitting on a bench). This year I will just carefully navigate around in the Mini.
