Hey - for all the 4x4 guys that have signed up, make sure to get their class right during registration on Sunday. Most (if not all) of them are running mud-terrain tires, which would put them in NO4. But some of them signed up for SO4.

This will be interesting, besides Wranglers, there is a Cherokee signed up also, bet it has a lift kit. The more signed up, the better for the club. Are they bringing a support vehicle for turn overs,,, LOL Seriously, height to weight ratio might be a issue for safety on the course set up for for what we run. Hopefully they will run with a level head. Better yet, LOL, let's set up a class for them next year. I have a 4x4 off road p/u that serves as a tow vehicle and I notice several others in the club that tow have 4x4's.

The guys who have signed up race in Class A (stock-ish) in this 4x4 off-road series - http://www.ecors.com/ . A lot of their courses are not much rougher than BMW farm - the Class A course routing is easier than the other classes. There was at least one course they had this year that I would have run any of our RallyX cars on - no rocks, holes, etc. So they are built more for speed and corners than you would expect.

I think all the 4x4 guys signed up for Sunday have full cages in their vehicles, so that's good. And at least one of them is for sale, so he is motivated *not* to roll it. :)

It would be interesting to talk about having a class for them next year, based on if they have a good time on Sunday and we like their participation. I am *ass*uming that they will not be competitive against cars at a RallyX. There are a *lot* of 4x4s out there looking for a place to get dirty, which would help attendance, again assuming that their participation works out for us.

This statement scares me. Are roll overs a greater risk for these vehicles compared to a Subaru for example? A roll over with an injury could set the club up for a law suit. ("Well your honor, THEY teched the vehicle and said it was fit for the event. It is obviously THSCC's fault that I rolled my truck and broke my arm. Tell them to give me $10000000000000 dollars for my pain and suffering and $5000 for my truck!")

I would strongly recommend a hold harmless agreement on top of the regular waiver for anything that has a high center of gravity.

I don't really have a dog in this fight other than not wanting to see the club get sued over something stupid.

I've watched a Jeep Cherokee drift through a medium/high-speed sweeper at Sandblast like a rally car. I've also seen a few people roll cars on rallyx courses. And I've seen a lifted Toyota pickup do pretty well at BMW Farm. So I don't think there will a problem, as long as the course doesn't involve jumps into sudden turns or something. And I'll be there to help with setup, so I'll make sure that doesn't happen.

Just make sure they remember slow in, fast out, and if we see a truck up on two wheels more than once, we have the option to park it for the rest of the day.

You're welcome to drive my car if you think you can handle the power of a '93 Legacy.

The gas gauge is broken so it doesn't make much of a difference, but you could bring 4 new 15" rally tires.

ummm

so those racer jeeps were awesome! ahaha

they def. know what they're doing and are a lot safer than anyone thought. i welcome them to the club. plus they brought in 6 entries. so that helped a lot. we'll def give them their own class if we can get enough of them each race.

thanks all who came out

The 4x4s had a really good time and appreciate being invited, and being invited back! :)

Did you notice that one of them got 4th overall?

Here is video that one of them put together from multiple laps and multiple camera angles on his Jeep:
