it seems like everyone enjoyed the show, from the tractor pull guys to the local police man (all except for a neighbor complaining about noise and dust). hopefully we can come back. its up to the directors of the fair.

We can't do anything about the dust.

Do you think it would help the noise issue if we required all cars to have a muffler? I know most run a muffler already. That would suck, but I'd rather have quieter cars than lose more places to race. We're getting ready to pull the muffler off the Audi, but I'll leave it on if needed. Although, could our cars have been louder than the tractor pull the night before? Was the issue that it was noise on a Sunday morning?

I think we should require a muffler, anyway. It's not really a performance advantage on "those cars" anyway, and it's really annoying having to listen to and yell over that all day. We definitely need to require them next time we're at Wilson, if it's going to be a problem. That place is awesome, and I want to play there lots.

The Audi looked and sounded insane crossing the finish line yesterday afternoon, btw - don't change anything! :D

I loved having the opportunity to design those courses and then drive them yesterday, especially all the extra practice runs, with the deep holes, gullies and water splashes you guys didn't get to drive through on the final course. :P Thanks to those who got us the site! Had fun yesterday, it was great to hear from everyone who was having fun as well, and hopefully this site will be ours for years.

Thanks Carl.

I loved the afternoon course. The right hand turn after the start and the big sweeper going toward the finish were huge fun. Thanks to everyone that made it happen!

The new site was awesome and the fact that it was 15 mins from my house didn't suck either. 8)

As for the noise...you're telling me the General Lei was louder than a tractor and truck pull? Reminds me of the people who move next to an airport and complain about the noise. :stick:

If it takes us adding some sort of muffler to the General Lei to keep this site...consider it done, but for the record the Janko car with the straight pipe is louder than ours!

Yes, it is. Painfully.

I will have to get my vid up - I was way too busy with my hands.

Excellent courses, excellent site. I bet if we drive in where the tractor pull was, the neighbors won't get as much noise and dust. Hope we get to return!

The course and the site were awesome!! Unfortunely, i forgot the to turn the cone magnet feature off on my car.

We need to beg, borrow, and possibly even raise the debt ceiling further to keep this site!!!

Really? More cones than the 7 I got in just one run? The site is a blast, and we should check with them to see how they felt about the turf getting messed up. I noticed some other muddy spots were covered with straw, so I'm wondering how they're going to feel about wear and tear...

The only problem was the site was way too smooth and bump free.

Yeah, the policeman was kind of confused how our event was a complaint compared to the tractor pull and the biker showdown they had last month.

Oh well. I'll keep u guys informed.

I never saw a cop. Did one show up when we left for lunch or something?

Reminds me of the old RBC night series autocrosses. The cops would get complaints and when they showed up they were amazed we all didn't jump in our cars to try and flee the scene.

it was after you guys left for the day. He drove up and asked Cort if we were allowed to be there cause no one was really paying attention to him. Cort said ya and told him to go talk with Ko Ko N.

hahaha. "officer please go speak to Koo Koo Neshat, he runs the joint"

yeah. the officer was apparently watching the race for a while from the side gate. and came into the gate as folks were packing up and doing fun runs.

he was very nice and very interested. he knew bowie and co. so he knew we were good to go. but he just wanted to let us know about the noise complaint incase we decide to come back.

we may have to sent a request to the WPD for our next race there, maybe a few of them would have a ball co-driving.

Some good PR with the local fuzz couldn't hurt.

FYI, the WPD does officer training at the local Wilson airport. I asked my boss (locally well connected, and he and Bowie are friends) about us running an autocross on that site. He said we'd have a better chance of running on the White House lawn vs. getting permission to do ANYTHING on the property under the airport authority's jurisdiction.
