hey all,
Our August 7th race will be at wilson county fairgrounds, in..... wilson!

I stopped by there a few weeks ago and its a large plot of land. a 3/8 gravel track with an infield that is about 98% usable.

We also have our October event scheduled there as well (thats if we leave the course in decent shape after we're done).

So make sure you mark your calendars and tell all your friends. It cant get anymore smoother than this. bring your lowriders and you'll still have clearance!

finally a location for our eastern friends

Do we get to use any of the gravel track?

Sand, soil, or clay?

its the bigger section to the right.

3/4 of the gravel track is there. maybe more. the operations guy there said we can use anything there. we just have to be careful not to screw it up really bad.

not sure on the type of land conditions. i want to make another trip before the race to check some more things out.

Wilson County Soils map lists most of the property as Sandy Loam (its also 32 acres in size!)

http://www.sandyloamsoil.com/

My uneducated guess is it will be similar to Kevin's place.

Aaaah. Damn sand. But yes. We have a lot of land to work with. There are 3 possible plots at te fairgrounds we have access to. So hopefully we can avoid the worst stuff.

Shoot - I was all excited we might get to have gravel parts of the course. Still great to have a new site - now if I can only find the time to get to another event!

Great job! It'll be great to race in a new location. What's the definition of messed up real bad though? We'll have to be careful to make sure they let us back.

We'll just have to watch our course design, and try to switch courses in afternoon, and of course make sure we don't leave any trash around.

The yellow is our track. We also have 2 smaller tracks as backup.

As far as I know. We can use the gravel. But we have to see how it'll look after 100 runs. Lol. But I'm sure we can work something out.

I think the Laser will do well on that oval track! Can we have the first event like that? Maybe we could even do some side by side racing on the big oval? We might need to create a "Tradin' Paint" class.

It would be really nice to have something close too.

FYI, for those who don't know, Dale Sr. used to race at this same track back in the day.
