we're in the process of trying to get a few sites. But before we even think about them, we wanted to know how far some of you guys are willing to drive for an event.

Our current locations are (for comparison sake).
Clayton, NC
Rougemont, NC

we seem to have a lot of members between chapel hill and clayton area, with a few scattered around on the outskirts of that line.

We know we cant please everyone, but we would like to make it easier for some people to drive to a few events. We also would not want to lose folks if the events were out of their reach.

If you've been following us at the monthly meetings you'd know that there is a possible site at NCCAR (garysburg, NC) and one in Wilson. (Im also looking at a location in Durham).

With that said, would you guys be willing to drive to Wilson? Garysburg? Durham?

for those who arent familiar with Garysburg and NCCAR, its off of 95 about 40miles north of Rocky Mount.

Nothing is set in stone.

In Wilson? Do tell! Seeing as how both of these location are closer to me I'm all for it.

BTW, the only reason I haven't been attending the events of late is lack of time, not driving distance. Lemons racing has kept most of our General Lei team pretty busy the last couple of years.

and because of a lack of desire to not feed my 12.5mpg truck I am unfortunately going to have to miss the OCS one as well. My wife is having to drive my gas sipper and I can't stomach the gas bill this go around. :(

Living in Greenville we are used to a two hour drive to almost anything. Four Oaks was close to us at just over an hour. Wilson would be nice.
The better the site the farther I would be willing to drive. OCS is over two hours, but worth the drive.
Now I just need to throw the right part at the Laser to get it running. A new ignition module arrives tomorrow.

Glad to see more locations are being considered. The Durham one would be perfect (I live in Durham). Wilson is probably at the outer edge of the acceptable area. Garysburg is probably too far, unless the track is a ton of fun.

Garysburg is far, but it is 70 mph speedzones, all interstate the whole way there. It's actually farther from where I live in Durham (near southpoint) than Laurinburg is, but I got there 30 minutes sooner than I would have got to Lburg.

I'm already driving 90 minutes to the BMW Farm, and so am not distance sensitive. I'm just glad we've got candidates for more locations! Thanks!

OCS is 2 hours for me and even more for Walter. We have to drive far to almost everywhere so we're used to it.

It's no problem though. You guys can have all that traingle-area traffic and congestion.

How is the soil in Wilson and at NCCAR? I would expect it to be soft and loamy like BMW Farm and Four Oaks...

Correct. It won't be sandy.

Ray saw the actual NCCAR grounds. I was there but late to the party. But they said it was red clay. Looked pretty packed.

Not sure about Wilson yet.

having more sites for rallycross is good. we dont mind. 5 hours is pushing it. but with our truck 1.5-2 hrs is ok. that is why we have a diesel. long haul rides..

diesel costs more but the efficiency makes it a wash.
