Like the title says.

our first race will be held March 6th. We need event chairs.
prices will be the same as last year. $30 prepay or $35 at the site.

prereg will be up in a little while

This year we'll have 9 total races. 8 points events, 1 non-points.

A few changes will come this year with the help of member-comments last year and this year.

We need event chair(s). Dont be scared. It's really fun and you will learn a lot about course design and the course itself. with that said we're making a small change to how we are doing event chair duties. Last year we comp'd 2 chairs and usually someone to get the bus for us (usually a non-chair).

this year, we want to tweak that. if 2 people decide to chair, then one needs to be the bus driver. if one of the chairs cannot get the bus, then we can only credit 1 free entry for an event chair (you can split it up).

So this year, 1 free entry for event chair. 1 free entry for bus driver.

As far as course workers and duties go, we cant afford to not have people working during the races. Last year we ran into some issues with non-workers and people leaving early and that really leaves us empty handed when the time comes. and with that being said, we appreciate folks volunteering to tech cars and do things during the race day, but we also would like to ask for you to work during the day as well. If you work start, we also would like for you to keep an eye out around you for cones that may get knocked down.

We appreciate when the event chairs volunteer to help get the bus and setup a course, and for that we relieve you of your duties during the race, but at the same time, we expect you to be on hand if anything needs to be done.

we'll continue to do 1 free run followed by 3 timed runs (if time and participation allows).

if we can think of anything else we'll post up.
hopefully we can all work with this and help this year go smooth. if anyone has any comments or concerns, please let us know. rallycross@thscc.com

thanks!

There will be. But maybe after a few races. We want it to warm up a bit. And also make it at BMW farm again.

Btw. We are still after locations. So if anyone has any leads, please post up.

Thanks

They have 4x4 races at this facility. The full 4x4 course would be too rough with rocks and some big jumps, but if they could have bypasses, it would be an awesome track (see aerial photo on that page). Not sure if their rental fee might be too much. And it would be a farther drive than our current locations.

I wonder if we could use parts of the parking area/land here: http://www.ncmudracing.net/
I was there for a mud race, and it looked like a RallyX might be doable if they would have a reasonable fee, and if we could control the dust. They have wash-down areas for the 4x4s, and I'm sure a water truck for the mud pit, so I wonder about keeping the course damp throughout the day?

Yeah!! looking forward to another great year of rallyx.

Everyone needs to be promoting THSCC rallyx by:

*Posting in the various internet forums we all participate in.

*Inviting all your arm chair racing buddies out to race with us. I've never had a single person tell me that didn't have an awesome time.

*Inviting members of other rallyx club both near and far to come and race with us.

I'm all for new ideas. Rally school is popular and seems to bring people out. How bout we have free food one race or have race themes. Anything that promotes fun.

I can chair the first event. I can probably get Jake to do it with me as we'll be in one car anyway. I'll confirm once I talk to him. I will have to get back to CH in time to go to the Dook game the night before!!

This event is not showing up on the RallyX pre-reg form or 2011 calendar yet.

Don't be shy, step right up for the event chair's position asap.

We'll be there to help, and you will have fun!

Jake is in for chairing this event. Where will the bus be? Apex? Any practice day before this event?

Great. Thanks Colin and Jake.

Bus will most likely be in apex. And we'll coordinate setup the day before as the days get closer.

If anyone has contacts at Johnson Lexus or Crown Honda near Southpoint Mall (I40/751), there is a good amount of cleared but undeveloped land that they own. Looked like could be RallyX location. Would be an easy sell if they had a Subaru dealership there. :)
