This has got to be closer to a production Countryman than the Ford Fiesta rally car is to the production version. I'm not a fan of the engine sound, though, it sounds like a 250cc japanese motorcycle.

god that was horrible.
had to stop after about a minute.
all it is is a car zooming by and a bunch of dust.

not impressive.

they'd have better success in my civic, probably.

Its just the first test drive. I'm sure they'll have a slick promotional video al-la Ken Block around the time the car actually starts racing.

That's exactly what I thought when I watched it - except for that last part. Needs better video.

The prodrive MINI rally car finally made its official debut with a big marketing event in typical MINI fashion:

I wonder how much of an actual MINI is in the car, but probably about as much as the Prodrive Subaru.

I read an article somewhere on the car and as with all the WRC cars there is not much used from the street car aside from the actual body shell. The rear suspension was converted to struts and the AWD system is completely different. I think the engine block is a beefed up version of the normal 1.6 liter that Mini uses, other than that nothing really shared with the street car.
