Another idea for debate.
What about adding a modified class? While the Laser has no suspension mods and minimal drive train mods, the weight loss mods have made a difference. It probably isn't fair to the guys driving stock cars.
We could have SO4 stock and SO4 mod, SU2 stock and SU2 mod etc.
More winners might mean more participants?
Stock would really have to mean no modifications, except for maybe the air cleaner filter. A welded dif is a definite mod!
Hey Walter and interesting question!
Honestly, if we were to talk about this, I would really prefer that we start a new thread about this, as it is a very long subject. I think it is one we have talked about previously, as well (3-4 years ago).
Great topic, but in keeping with the general "KISS" methodology that Tarheel follows, it would seem the most likely to use SCCA classing structures, if people wanted a change. This would account for any modifications, and would be inline with people doing National Level events.
I would propose that, if our group saw the need for change. Our original thought was that we just needed people showing up and learning to drive rather than worrying about classing and what class they belonged in.
It would be interesting, however. I know my car would be RP4 (not Mod4), and I think Whitney's would as well.
