Thanks so much to Brian, Kourosh, Charlie, Bret and everyone else who made the T&T/school happen!!! It was GREAT to get so much driving time. Thanks to Brian for showing us how fast our car can actually go (and how to do it).

It was also nice to go through an event with the Audi and not have a list of needed repairs before the next race. The only issue we had was getting some grass/dirt in a bead (but didn't lose air), so we'll have to clean that out. Oh yeah - I guess we need to take a leaf blower to the interior to get out all the dust!!!

We took some video on Marek's Flip camera, so hopefully there's some footage of people catching air at the "crossover".

See you all at the race on May 8th!

we are an Autocross Club Dammit............

I just wanted to take a few seconds and congratulate Michael Whitney on some inspired runs, especially his last runs in both the morning and the afternoon. While he still appears to have "autoX runs" then (your last run being much faster), it is still impressive he does this while being clean! Great job Whitney, and I left (early) on Sunday *knowing* I would see that in the results. It was also very gracious of him to share revelations that he had on course with me in the morning, as it really helped ME out. That is something I think shows A TON of class -- thank you!

That was quite eye opening. Brian's driving was SO different from mine -- smooth and fast. It made me realize just how many bad habits I had picked up (like forcing the car around the current cone instead of looking ahead).

Another interesting observation -- I had my best times with the rear diff lock off, whereas Richard did better with the read diff lock engaged. I didn't realize that our driving styles were so different.

That reminds me -- a while back I had sent pictures of me rallycrossing the old Subaru (GL-10 "Flying Coffin") to a friend of mine. He told me that when his wife saw the pictures she asked "Why is he racing a station wagon?"

I always take everything jokingly, so I will answer that question with that mood in mind.

I am familiar with people giving feedback but not having been involved. I would LOVE to have new people out there rallyXing, so come out! We would love to have you!

There were a "unique" set of circumstances this weekend (as with all weekends), so those that were there, with those parameters in mind, are the people that will give me something relevant I can use. Also, I don't want to tangent this thread off the subject (the great time everyone had!).

Thanks everyone for a great day of RallyX. The weather was perfect, Thanks for that.
The course for fast, fun, and challenging. It was nice to see full use of the field. To have average 75sec courses and carry moderate to fast speeds throughout was a challenge to layout (and drive) for sure. There was a lot more clay out there than one might think. We'll have to remember those areas for the next event there. Certainly the veins of sand are a challenge to design around. There was only a few spots that degraded. Catching air in the crossover ditch was fun, if not cheek tightening, especially with a left turn immediately following.
I have to say a lot of cones were used despite comments on another thread. But that's ok, I didn't hit a one of them.
At the risk of jinking myself. Le Tigre remains undefeated so far in SU2 class in 2010.

1. School the day before, so once they are out, I didn't want to pick them up until the afternoon. Point noted, however.

2. I think SU2 is now officially "Spec SE-R". Congrats on your SE-R win!

We, THSCC needs to maintain this course before the next time we return, or we will not be able to use the WHOLE field again, due to ruts. Is there anything else we can do to get out there and fix these issues before they grow over? If I have time before the baby, and I am more than willing to go donate the time (and the time to clean the bus). Someone just let me know, and I am there. I just don't have the time to coordinate all that, right now.

I, too, enjoyed using the entire field. Prepping it for the next time would involve smoothing out all of the ruts, which means the use of a tractor and the appropriate heavy iron thing to drag behind it. Anyone got one of those
