After bolting the head to the block last night, I discovered a cross threaded plug hole (not happy). It isn't too bad, however I'm trying to save it rather than use an insert. The threads on the inside are good, but standard taps/rethreaders engave the threads on the outside first, and they are cross threaded (thus cross threading the entire hole).
The solution? I ordered a $50 too made by KD Tools, that inserts into the hole, then expands, engaging the threads on the inside *first*. You then back the tool out of the hole, using the good threads to gude the tool. Kind of slick. It also cost $45 more than the standard re-threaders. The other advantage is that it pulls most of the debris out of the hole, rather than pushing them into the hole.
Here it is:

Anyhow, I'll have it tomorrow or Thursday, so if you ever need it (14mm plugs), give me a call.
