Someone forwarded me a tip from the North American Subaru Imprezas Owners Club (
http://www.nasioc.com/) regarding how to cure hesitation/CEL problems. Apparently, Subaru weren't very careful at cleaning up grounding points on the chassis after painting. This causes the computer to see less that optimum voltage and causes hesistation issues and problems extinguishing CEL. I have seen both these issues on my wife's 2000 2.5RS equipped with Cobb intake, cat/exhaust system and pulley (CEL went on after doing these mods and still wouldn't go out after fitting Cobb's O2 sensor fix).
So, this morning, bright and early, equiped with with 10 mm socket and Dremel tool, I cleaned up all grounds I could find (key ones are behind battery and 2 on RH strut tower), and took her out for a spin. I was amazed at the difference. She (the car, not the wife!) now pulls smoother and faster to 6k than before (previously power seem to drop off after 5k and it bogged more lower down). Plus, CEL has been extinguished. I was well impressed. My wife took the car out after me and concurred my findings. Much more fun to drive. Such a small fix has really woken up the car.
Just though I'd pass along.
Can't wait to get the new equal length Cobb headers installed!
Cheers, Mark W.
