How bad of an idea would it be to drive from Danville to Chapel Hill with two 16" wheels and two 17" wheels on my Mini?

Besides extra (likely minimally more than normal) tire wear, the possibility of dragging, and a potential weirdness of handling, I don’t see it having any permanent affects.

If it was me needing to ask this question, I would likely have no issues with doing it unless i thought I was going to drag something on my car.

All your rear wheels/tires are doing is keeping the bumper from hitting the ground. I wouldn't think anything of it as long as you had the same diameter combination on the same axle.

Thanks, I feel better about taking only two extras now.

as long as it is front and rear.. it would only look strange, thats all.
a wrx or sti would burn up the awd.. but, in a 2wd mini.. it wont hurt anything front to rear, it would only drive a little bit strange and look odd, but it wont hurt anything..

If the tire outside diameter is about the same (like in the Cooper OEM sizes 195/55/16 and 205/45/17), wheel diameter makes no significant difference, whether it's FWD, RWD, or AWD.
