Changing a front hub on my '93 Miata track car, so i figured it was a good opportunity to change out the wheel studs to extended-length studs all around. Ordered a complete kit from http://advanced-autosports.com/technical.htm.

Comparing the OEM studs to the new aftermarket extended studs, the knurl under the head on the aftermarket studs is coarser than the OEM studs.

I'm hesitant to press in the new studs if Advanced Autosports sent me the wrong studs. Then again, maybe it's no big deal.

Knurl O.D. on the OEM's is .504" (12.80mm) vs. .512" (13.00mm) on the Aftermarket studs.
Is this a problem? Anybody run into a similar situation?

Guys a Advanced called back.
This pitch difference is normal with after-market studs.

They said, "Just pull 'em through." The larger O.D. and coarser knurl will form new grooves while maintaining concentricity with the original hole.

Problem solved! Doing the job this week.

Brad, I put replacement studs in a few weeks ago. But I didn't measure them and wasn't sure I did the right thing. Thanks to you I'm breathing easier. I simply got them and pressed them in with a 12 ton press. I guess I should have mic'ed them before pressing them in.
