Star Specs! 195/55R15 (OE size). had them installed today at HH&W.

now i get to see how fast this Fit really goes!

i think these tires are actually more comfy than the original ones, but they have a little more noise. can't wait till aug 9th & 10th! got to experiment with pressures, see what i can do...

With the 2 seconds you're going to drop with those tires, you could make things pretty interesting in STS. With a few suspension modifications, I bet you could make things even more interesting.

TIR isn't a real class anyway - come play with us. :D

thanks for the invite...

seeing as how mods on Fit are not going to happen...i still may join STS for the fun of it even though i'll never catch you and your 5.4 sec lead over me at sanford...otherwise...i may join X class and see how competitive i am...

might as well finish the year off in TIR though...i'll definitely be comparing times with you STS guys though 8)

on another note...how do i determine optimal tire pressures? plan is to adjust fronts for maximum grip, and rears to adjust balance. i've seen people with chalk(?) marks on their tires on the edge of the tread...how does that work?

also do i need a tire sprayer? will it affect wear? or just grip?

I'm not really one of those optimal tire pressures/ water sprayer guys. I just usually set the pressures around 35-40psi and check them after runs to make sure they're not getting too high - or too low. And that the sidewalls aren't being used. But I usually use tires with very stiff sidewalls, because I like instant response. For my RE070's (two of them are the original equipment tires that came with Donnie Barnes' 04 STi  ), I use them at daily driving pressures, which is around 32psi, because the sidewall is so damn stiff.

In the past, I have set the front pressure at 35psi and jacked the rear pressure up really high to see when I would notice a difference. It was around 60psi.

You can also max out your toe-out in the rear, if it's adjustable. That plus really high rear pressure would probably make it rotate pretty well.

As for shoe polish, you don't need it, because the tires have little triangle marks on them that point to the optimum rollover area on the edge of the sidewall. At 35psi, my Dunlops didn't roll over past that point at VIR-N, VIR-F or at the non-pts event at Sanford.

unfortunately...rears are not adjustible...and come from the factory with toe IN, and 1.5 degrees of negative camber...

i already maxed camber in the front, so all i have to play with are tire pressures.
