I am wondering if there are club members that have wired their enclosed trailers for AC, lights, etc.

Currently, I have a 15amp outside receptacle that goes to two wall outlets. I want to add a 100amp breaker box. I am thinking of only running 50amps into it at the start. Enough to power an air conditioner, some florescent lights and maybe 4 wall outlets.

Most tracks have either 50 or 30 amp max and then 15amp outlets.

I have done wiring in the house, but not in a trailer before. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes I miss the days of the small tire trailer :-)

[edit] Any one know of a decent electrician?

I wired ours for AC and 12V aux power including a 2 breaker box. I'd be glad to show it to you or assist you in any way you need.

For the peace of mind, I'd let a qualified electrician do it. I've had my electricians do stuff in my trailers before and been real happy. And in general if you want a 30A or 50A extension cord for it (which I highly recommend), having an electrician "make" one is generally cheaper and better than any of the CRUD you can buy from RV places and whatnot.

You might also consider making a "Y" for whichever plug type you choose. It seems like most tracks just don't have enough outlets, but they seem to handle the Y plan pretty well in my experience. Done it many times. Rarely trip a breaker on the 50A Y, anyway.

After a trip to Mosport near Toronto a little more than a year ago, I REALLY came to appreciate the facilities and especially the electrical hookups available at VIR.

I have a picture of it somewhere- but they have a single power pole with several 110v outlets on it, most of which are burnt beyond recognition, for the entire paddock area. It looks like the whole system has been jury-rigged many times over the years by whoever happened to need power but was without an outlet. I'm amazed that no one was electrocuted and that power was actually flowing from those outlets.

No, I meant a splitter so you can share the same outlet. Yes, I realize that can be bad, but I've had few problems. Beats having *no* hookup because someone beat you to the pole.
