Hey everyone,
I'm located in Durham and I'm looking for a local source to get some replacement low pressure power steering hoses (hoses that go to the reservoir) for my E30 M3.

I need a couple feet of 16x22 and 12x18 size hoses.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Dominic

I looked up "hydraulic hose" in the yellow pages and hit jackpot. I got four feet of each size for less than $18, but I got mine in Fayetteville near the airport. Some of these shops will even custom bend hoses. Good luck, there's got to be something in the area.

Raleigh rubber and gasket has all sorts of weird hoses, perhaps you could give them a call and see if they have what you need.

Thanks Brice,
I actually just called them and the person who answered the phone said they didn't have anything for power steering. Seems strange since it just needs to be a low pressure oil resistant hose I would think...

I might try back later in the day and ask my question differently.

I'd try the CarQuest on Airport Rd. in Morrisville. Beyond that there is Cross Hose and Fitting in Raleigh.

I thought your wallet said "Can we part it out and make money?" and if the answer is "no", then it runs and hides. :D

Yeah, it really might depend on who you ask and how you ask it. I'd ask the question as "I need a low pressure oil resistant hose with these dimensions".

Its a very strange place, I remember going over there needing something kinda weird (a nitrgoen fill line for an MRI magnet) and the guy let me just walk back through and look through the stuff they had on the shelves. Their words of caution for me though: "watch for snakes".

In a hose warehouse. What a brilliant way to mess with somebody.

I thought that too, but I think there actually had been snakes in the warehouse. There was a rat nest in a piece of 3" rubber hosing I bought from there once. . .

Stupid question-So does the run of the mill rubber hose you buy from Auto Zone allow the oil to weep out?

I was going to say I have always found most plumbing at local parts stores, you just have to ask.

And in particluar to your question, what size are you looking for? Also 'low pressure' is a relative term when it comes to PS. Even the low pressure side of a PS system see more pressure than anyt other fluid lines short of oil lines.

And finally what about -AN lines? They will handle anything and can be had in a wide range of diameters
