So a couple of days ago at work some one came in and told me my parking lights were on. Which I though was strange because I never move the lights of automatic. So I went out and look and it was just the left site parking lights. I flipped the lights on and off a few times and they would not turn off. When I went to go home at the end of the day I noticed that the turn signal was on for turning left.
When I put it back to center the turn lights go off. So if the car is off and I move the turn signal stalk left or right the lights come on. Is this a normal thing with my model of BMW or do I have some sort of ground issue?

It's normal. I've seen other german cars do it. I think it has something to do with parallel parking on the streets over seas.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

On page 47 of the owners manual it clearly states:

WARNING: Any unusual behaviour of the lighting system on your BMW (such as parking lights remaining on when the vehicle key has been removed from the ignition) indicates an insufficient level of electrical system smoke. Refill the electrical system with BMW 6 53 1 121425 (Lucas 530433).

Yeah, I learned my volkswagon lesson through Stephen. I never had to own one. His passat was one of the better ones though. Certainly a lot better than his baby blue rabbit.

Mercedes Benz used to have the curb parking lights on the head light switch. Turned one way turned on the left park lights but not the side markers and the other way turned on the right park lights.

I hate to Disagree with you Mike, I have had this same problem with one of my german cars when the gunk in the little round reservior near the oil cap gets low.    (for Richard)

Where is Steve? This might get him knocked off this forum.

IBTL!!!
